Everyone is sure that Salesforce will be a game changer for their business. And it absolutely can be. But buying a license… and getting ROI on that hefty price tag… Those are two different things. I’ve seen lots of companies excited to have this amazing tool… But then realize that nobody on their sales, ops, or IT teams knows how to make it work. Should you hire a top-notch Tech Architect for $220K? Seems excessive. So, you settle for a more affordable outside consultant at $200 an hour. A thousand hours later, and you've spent $200K. But that consultant didn’t integrate the tool with your company. They just built a bunch of stuff to order without sticking around to make sure Salesforce actually gets used by your sales, service, ops, and other teams. It's just a shiny tool on the shelf, gathering dust. Opportunities slip away, revenue stalls. Hiring that Tech Arch can be a lot less expensive than NOT hiring them.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing the upgrade of the InRiver Product Information Management (PIM) system, including custom extensions. This role requires ensuring a seamless transition with minimal downtime, maintaining data integrity, and effectively implementing new features while supporting custom functionalities. Key Responsibilities: * Upgrade Planning & Execution: o Develop and manage a comprehensive upgrade plan for the InRiver PIM system, including all custom extensions, ensuring alignment with business needs. o Coordinate with stakeholders to schedule and execute upgrades with minimal disruption to business operations. * Technical Assessment: o Assess current system configurations, customizations, and extensions to ensure compatibility with the latest version of InRiver. o Conduct impact analysis on custom modules and extensions to determine potential risks and required modifications for a smooth upgrade. * Customization Management: o Review and update custom extensions, scripts, and modules to ensure they are fully functional post-upgrade. o Collaborate with development teams to modify or rewrite customizations as needed to align with new InRiver versions. * Data Integrity & Testing: o Perform thorough testing and validation of all functionalities, including custom extensions, post-upgrade to ensure system stability and data integrity. o Implement a comprehensive testing framework to include regression, performance, and UAT testing, particularly for custom functionalities. * Collaboration: o Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, marketing, product management, and development teams, to ensure custom extensions meet business requirements post-upgrade. o Coordinate with the InRiver support team to resolve any issues during the upgrade process, especially those related to custom extensions. * Documentation & Training: o Create detailed documentation of the upgrade process, including any changes made to custom extensions or configurations. o Provide training and support to end-users on new features and functionalities, including any updates or changes to custom extensions. * Monitoring & Troubleshooting: o Monitor the system and custom extensions post-upgrade for any performance issues, bugs, or unexpected behaviors. o Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for any issues that arise after the upgrade, particularly those related to custom extensions Interested candidates drop your cv [email protected]

(Walmart is hiring. See below. Also, a personal milestone!) 🙂 Why is productivity not easy to measure? The answer may be due to Jevons Paradox. But what is "Jevons Paradox"? In the 1800's, British economist William Stanley Jevons noticed that technologies that improved the efficiency of coal consumption ... ... inadvertently led to the increase in coal consumption, which is what the technologies were trying to reduce in the first place! Jevons Paradox is therefore the phenomenon where: ✅ Technological improvements that makes something easier to use ... ✅ ... usually cause more of that item to be used. Let's look at an example from the world of tech, specifically email. In the 1960's and 1970's, there was the concept of the "inter-office memo". Employees who worked in offices would give verbal dictations to their admins, who would type in the memos on mechanical typewriters. The memos would then get sent physically by inter-office envelopes to other folks in the company. The entire process was manual and would take 1-2 days to deliver a memo. Then came the PC revolution, networked computers and email !! 🙂 Emails - in theory - made things easier because it removed the manual work of dictations, typewriting, printing, copying, and inter-office envelopes. Emails were easier. Much, much easier! But here comes Jevons Paradox. Because emails were easy to send, people could send many more emails than they could draft inter-office memos. Current estimates are that an average business worker receives between 80 and 120 work-related emails each day! Now back to the productivity question: ❓ Did emails actually increase productivity? ❓ Or did the increase in email counts decrease productivity? The answer to both is YES !! And this is Jevons Paradox.
