✈️ The volume of belly freight at Vienna Airport soared by an incredible 47% in the first half of 2024, reaching 57,594 tons. This surge is fueled by the increase in passenger traffic, which provides additional capacity for cargo in the holds of passenger aircraft. This trend underscores the airport's strategic use of passenger flights to enhance cargo operations and meet the growing global demand for airfreight services. The German airport in Frankfurt is the largest in Europe in terms of freight volume! ✈ This was recently revealed by data from ACI Europe and DVZ, which indicated that 1,828 thousand tonnes of freight were handled in Frankfurt in 2023. Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport is close behind with 1,815 thousand tonnes of freight volume. The top 3 is completed by Istanbul Airport, which recorded a cargo volume of 1,516 thousand tonnes in 2023. Air freight is often used for time-critical goods such as flowers and perishable foodstuffs or valuable goods such as jewellery. The goods can be transported from A to B extremely quickly and safely. There are also many customised solutions and services in air freight, such as charter solutions or onboard couriers. Air freight currently impresses with its already very short transit times, if you take into account the fact that the more time-consuming sea freight takes 10-14 days longer due to the diversions around the Cape of Good Hope. #IFBGermany #IFB #AirFreight #BridgingSupplyChainComplexity #LogisticSolutions

✈️China-European Air Freight Market Update: Week 44 ✈️ Here’s a quick overview of this week’s trends in key European shipping routes. As demand and capacity fluctuate, we see various pricing dynamics across major routes—read on for the latest insights! ✈️LGG (Liège) Liège’s e-commerce shipments remain stable, but overall capacity to Europe is shrinking, which has driven rates up. Despite the price rise, LGG routes are prioritizing heavier shipments, making it an attractive option for large loads. ✈️AMS (Amsterdam) Amsterdam is facing significant flight cancellations next week, leading to a tight hold on available space and noticeable rate hikes. Space for dense and heavy cargo will be prioritized starting next week, as demand for smaller, dense shipments grows. ✈️MXP (Milan) Milan’s market looks relatively stable in terms of volume and pricing. For large loads, we recommend using remote air-card services, though the direct capacity will likely see increased demand for compact heavy cargo next week. ✈️CDG (Paris) Direct CDG flights are mostly fully booked until the weekend, but if you have small parcels or dense cargo, it may be worth waiting. Transshipment options offer two-day service and are great for high-value, small heavy goods at competitive rates. ✈️ZRH (Zurich) TG routes (excluding Zurich) offer limited space starting next Tuesday, but otherwise, they’re nearly full. A few CV routes will have available heavy cargo slots starting Friday, and both routes show pricing stability. ✈️FRA (Frankfurt) Frankfurt shows steady improvement, with bulk cargo space expected to open in the second half of the week, and rates could see a moderate rise. ✈️Why ASLG? As market dynamics continue to shift, ASLG’s expertise and reliable network ensure your shipments receive the best pricing and routes. The amount of new freighter services opened in the past 12 months between China and the main x-border e-commerce markets is quite un-precedented and makes me remember the early Covid-19 times when any kind of plane became a solution for those long haul flights usually non-profitable for aircrafts loading up 50 to 60T only 🛫 🛬 Given there is little to no revenue on the back-haul leg, it can only lead us to expect another very heavy airfreight peak season out of Asia, as the China push is usually rippling over other Asian origins such as Vietnam, Thailand or Singapore 🌏 A major question mark remains however, how long will these China "secondary" airports such as Zhengzhou, Ezhou or Haikou highlighted below to name a few, will continue the internal competition to attract cargo and flights with heavy subsidies to airlines and operators, and how long can they afford it 💰 💰 💰 The post-Covid world is definitely unknown territory for the air cargo market. #airfreight #ecommerce #aircargo
