MBA syllabus might be outdated, MBA exams might be unnecessary, MBA assignments might be a stretch. And MBA schools might be getting a whole lot wrong! But, what YOU get ABSOLUTELY right from your MBA class is your network. - Go try to build a professional network on LinkedIn. - Go try to build a professional network through meetups. - & Go try to build a network in any way. 99% chance that it fails. But your MBA network WILL be ready to help you even after decades. People coming from the same institute bond instantly! And this is the real charm. It gives you confidence that nothing else can! *** Now, if you say - Network is not important, then good luck:) Pavan Sathiraju
Network is the first thing you reach out to when you need any help! It is the invisible backbone we all rely on.
Networking is key but that doesn't really mean that those 1-2 years of knowing someone can change the trajectory of someone's career. I know at the end of the day, business is key and it has to be with someone who can be trusted but I really wish that talented individuals are still given equal opportunities to be in positions despite not having those networks. In any point in time, if I am in any capacity to do business with someone or refer someone, I would actually be open minded and be absolutely open to know prospects regardless whether they were sitting next to me in class or completely unknown but have the right potential.
Absolutely. And in the community building journey I have taken on, my belief just grew stronger. IIMCircle link - https://www.linkedin.com/groups/14554184/
Completely agree. The network I built in IIM Bangalore was the most handy during my job switch.
In a world where knowledge is ubiquitous, individuals are capitalizing on their skillsets through freelancing, content creation, and various other ventures. The insights you've shared were my inspiration to attend a business school.
Pavan Sathiraju 100% - the network is the biggest win. In just my first semester, I’ve already connected with peers working across industries I could only dream of breaking into. The shared experiences make those bonds so much stronger than any LinkedIn connection.
Network is not important’? Bold claim. But when your MBA buddy helps you crack that dream job or land a client, you realize how priceless it is
The power of community and leverage it provides is huge!!
This is so true!

6dLet me translate MBA networking into actual revenue numbers: Real stats from 100+ business deals: • 82% closed through industry contacts • 12% through direct outreach • 5% through social media • 1% through MBA networks The expensive truth: MBA networks mostly connect you with: → Other job seekers → Consultants selling services → People without budget authority → Zero-revenue connections What actually builds valuable networks: 1. Revenue Relationships Not: "MBA alumni" But: • Budget owners • Decision makers • Revenue drivers • Actual buyers 2. Industry Power Not: "Same institute bonds" But: • Market influence • Deal flow access • Strategic positions • Real opportunities 3. Value Exchange Not: "Shared MBA experience" But: • Revenue creation • Problem solving • Deal making • Profit sharing I've made more money through: • Cold LinkedIn outreach • Industry conferences • Direct sales • Value delivery Than through: • MBA networks • Alumni meetings • School connections • Institute bonds
