Competition is an opportunity for self betterment and parent bonding. Season Two of "Father Chasing Son" concluded last weekend - shared experience. Here are three things I learnt from him. Just 12 months ago, Elijah Soon and I took part in our first Singapore Weightlifting Federation National Competition. The goal was to celebrate our newfound shared passion while competing together on the same platform. This year has been about expressing our strength and achieving the goals that we set out for ourselves. We came back with more confidence, swagger, and a real ROAR! Three things I learnt from Elijah: 1. Being fearless. Each time I reached a milestone weight, the fear of the bar crashing on me was real, but watching how brave he has been throughout has given me more heart to go for it and not overthink. Like everything else, I aim to do in 2025. 2. Have a ROAR. Own your challenge. Command your presence and express your intentions clearly. 3. Master clutch moments. When you only have one last lift to hit your goal, having the mental fortitude to get it done no matter the cost is a skill to have in life. In this finale, Elijah finished with his competition record total of 190kg to qualify for the National team at 61kg. 🇸🇬 I finished with my own competition record of 164kg at 67kg, qualifying me for a week’s rest! To be fair to myself, I totalled 135kg in 2023. Hard work does pay off. Elijah Snatch - 83kg C&J - 107kg Total - 190kg Me Snatch - 72kg C&J - 92kg Total - 164kg Season Three of "Father Chasing Son" is renewed, and I look forward to learning more from those around me. Happy for any brand partnerships ☺️ I am still chasing after Elijah Soon, and one day, I might match his numbers. Yes, I am competitive even with him LOL. Here's to the journey to 180kg total. 🚀 Special mention again to the Singapore Weightlifting Federation for organising a wonderful event in the heartlands of Bedok. #fatherhood #fathersonbonding #weightlifting #parentingadventures #performancemindset
First lift looks like a power boss
Powerrrr! What an inspiration Paul. Although I got “scared” from your initial roar, just joking! 🤣
That’s really inspiring! About time I give my boys a nudge to compete with their old man 😀
