Success at the cost of health isn't sustainable I've noticed that many of my coaching clients are successful in their careers, but often the tools they're using to get there aren't healthy or sustainable. Common patterns? Sleepless nights, people-pleasing, and regularly crossing their own boundaries. Sound familiar? One powerful shift we're working on is redefining success to include mental and physical health as core components. After all, what's the point of achieving your goals if you're burning out in the process? It’s not about pushing harder - it’s about aligning your success with your values and making sure your well-being is part of the equation. How do you define success? Is health part of the equation for you? #Leadership #Success #MentalHealth #SustainableSuccess #Coaching

Comfort Zones- A Cautionary Tale Comfort zones... As leaders under pressure to perform, meet deadlines, address problems, and manage stress, we can often take a mental break and crave being in a "comfort zone." Though that comfort zone break may be just what we need at the time as a point of mental restoration, if we stay in it too long, it can lead to apathy or boredom. Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, the "Father of Flow," stated in his theory that apathy is outside of the flow state (one where we are fully immersed in our activity) and occurs when the skills and capabilities we possess are not being fully utilized. The result is that our performance and self-worth can suffer. As leaders, self-awareness of the balance between our need for restoration and our need to stay focused and engaged in our challenges is critical. Stepping out of our comfort zones can lead to learning, growth, and improved self-worth that combine to make us better leaders. What are some of the ways you have stepped out of your "comfort zone" and grown professionally and personally? #leadershipthought #marionspearskarr #breakingcomfortzones #professionalgrowth #leadership #flow #accomplishmentculture #healthcare #LinkedInContent

𝐸𝑣𝑒𝑟 𝑓𝑒𝑙𝑡 𝑙𝑖𝑘𝑒 𝑦𝑜𝑢'𝑟𝑒 𝑗𝑢𝑠𝑡 𝑔𝑜𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑡ℎ𝑟𝑜𝑢𝑔ℎ 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑚𝑜𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑠 𝑎𝑡 𝑤𝑜𝑟𝑘, 𝑑𝑒𝑠𝑝𝑖𝑡𝑒 𝑔𝑖𝑣𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑖𝑡 𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑎𝑙𝑙? That was me, four months into my role as 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗿. The endless firefighting – constantly putting out short-term fixes – coupled with long hours, constant pressure, and scarce recognition left me exhausted, cynical, and detached from the joy of leadership. 𝗠𝘆 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗜 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀𝗻'𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿. 𝗜𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗮 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗜 𝗹𝗲𝗱, 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗱, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀. It meant setting boundaries, prioritizing mental health, and reconnecting with my passion for leadership. Two transformative shifts occurred: ↳ 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝘂𝘀 𝗤𝘂𝗼: I stopped asking, "What if this simplifies the process?" and started implementing changes that truly mattered. ↳ 𝗪𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸: Leadership isn't about directives; it's about embodying the change you want to see. I actively communicated these changes and encouraged open dialogue with my team about their concerns and ideas. Two months after embracing this new mindset, I was promoted to 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. My journey taught me vital lessons: 1️⃣ 𝗘𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲: Be open to altering your approach and strategies, while maintaining open communication with your team about these changes. 2️⃣ 𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁: Prioritize the well-being and growth of your team. 3️⃣ 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗖𝗿𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹: Always take care of yourself and don’t hesitate to seek help when needed. 𝐻𝑜𝑤 𝑑𝑜 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑛𝑎𝑣𝑖𝑔𝑎𝑡𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑝𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑠𝑢𝑟𝑒𝑠 𝑜𝑓 𝑙𝑒𝑎𝑑𝑒𝑟𝑠ℎ𝑖𝑝? Let's discuss sustainable strategies that enable us to thrive, not just survive. #LeadershipDevelopment #MentalHealthAwareness #OvercomingBurnout

The 5 Dimensions of Life and Leadership As leaders and human beings, we strive for balance, growth, and fulfillment in different areas of our lives. Over time, I’ve identified five critical dimensions that, when properly nurtured, can lead to improved leadership and overall life satisfaction. Here’s how I define each: Financial Wellness: The freedom to manage financial resources without constant worry ensures stability and peace of mind. Spiritual Wellness: Feeling connected to something larger than oneself, grounded in purpose and gratitude. Mental Wellness: Maintaining a growth mindset and resilience to face challenges with clarity and emotional intelligence. Physical Wellness: Taking care of your body to sustain energy and well-being, creating a strong foundation for longevity and leadership stamina. Relationships: Building and nurturing meaningful connections supporting personal growth and leadership effectiveness. My premise is simple: we become better leaders and human beings when we solve these five dimensions. Each dimension is integral to how we show up at work and in life. When we are financially secure, mentally sharp, spiritually grounded, physically healthy, and surrounded by meaningful relationships, we lead with confidence, resilience, and purpose. Which dimensions are most challenging, and how are you working on them?
