UK - CAMBRIAN LINE ACCIDENT: INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY The Cambrian Line in Wales, the UK's first rail route equipped with the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS), is set to resume normal services today following last week's tragic collision. This accident resulted in one fatality and 15 injuries, marking the first fatal rail incident in years. An investigation is underway to understand the causes, including how the ERTMS, designed to enhance safety, was involved in the incident. Network Rail and Transport for Wales have completed their on-site investigation, allowing for the removal of damaged trains. While services will resume, disruptions may still affect travel in the short term. Key areas of focus for the Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) include the low adhesion between wheels and tracks, potentially exacerbated by fallen leaves in wooded areas surrounding the line. The Cambrian Line, a single-track railway, poses unique safety challenges, especially during adverse conditions. Our thoughts are with those affected by this tragedy. #SafetyNeverStops #RailSafety #PublicTransport https://lnkd.in/genyNxAW

In a tragic incident today, a portion of the roof of Delhi Airport's Terminal 1 collapsed amid heavy rainfall, resulting in the death of one person and injuries to six others. The collapse, which occurred around 5:30 am, caused significant damage to vehicles parked in the pick-up and drop-off area, including cabs and private cars. The collapse of the roof sheet and support beams prompted the temporary suspension of all departures from Terminal 1. Check-in counters were also closed as a safety measure, significantly impacting flight operations. Notably, departures of IndiGo and SpiceJet flights from Terminal 1 have been canceled until 2 pm. During the rescue operations, emergency personnel extracted a man trapped in a car crushed by an iron beam. Delhi Airport issued an official statement expressing regret over the incident and highlighting the efforts to provide medical aid to those affected. Union Minister of Civil Aviation Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu stated that he was personally monitoring the situation. He assured that first responders were working diligently at the site and that airlines had been advised to assist affected passengers. IndiGo reported that the structural damage led to flight cancellations, affecting passengers' ability to enter the terminal. The airline assured that passengers already inside the terminal would be able to board their planned flights, while those with later flights would be offered alternatives. The incident coincides with heavy rainfall in Delhi, which has caused waterlogging and traffic congestion in several parts of the city. The Safdarjung Observatory recorded 154 mm of rainfall between yesterday and this morning, bringing some respite from the scorching heat but also causing significant disruptions. This unfortunate event underscores the need for stringent safety measures and regular maintenance to prevent such tragedies, especially in critical infrastructure like airports. As rescue operations continue, the focus remains on ensuring the safety and well-being of all affected passengers and staff. #DelhiAirport #Terminal1 #RoofCollapse #HeavyRain #InfrastructureSafety #AviationNews #TravelSafety #FlightOperations #EmergencyResponse #DelhiWeather

Latest collapse of city side canopy, blowing away of roof of Delhi airport some time back are classic examples of negligence in execution of infrastructure by the concerned without owning their due responsibilities. Similar cases in various other forms keep happening with out getting reported and corrective action taken. The so called safety study conducted , approved by regulators means nothing in reality as it is only paper exercise. The same story applies to safety study in aeronautical navigational services across the country. In every major airports safety is compromised day in and out. Who bothers as hardly no one understands the safety implications. Waiting for some untoward to happen to start blame game.Yesterdays masonry people and pulse & oil traders are todays airport operators with support of over ambitious chamhas.
