"Defying Conventions: A Mother's Journey to Self-Worth and Empowerment" This is that part of my life where a career or profession was not an option at all. Since I had just delivered my child was my priority. And of course the conservative background I belong to was another reason for that decision of mine. Let me tell you about an incident, It was the first time I met a few folks who happened to be my husband's acquaintance. So having some conversation across the table one girl happens to be so mean and rude to me that she makes statements like Shweta! Apart from giving birth to a child what have you done, what are you? What have you done in your life? My immediate response to her was, only if you are in some designated place or position then, you are more respected or people think you are valued or recognized. Having your career and a profession is the only thing that should be looked into a person and irrespective of other challenges the person might have faced. So, what I understand from her is, that only profession, position, career, and money are what bring value to your existence. Rest, in what you are good at. How you are as a person? How has your life been, mentally, physically, or economically all that doesn’t matter? Shallow people exist everywhere don’t let them decide for you. Like I knew my potential or what I was dealing with back then. With God's blessings where it has got me now. However, there are times when those very individuals may harbor ill intentions, leading to betrayal or harm. This harsh reality is a poignant reminder of the complexities of human nature. I've learned the importance of being discerning in my generosity. While it's crucial to help others, it's equally important to protect ourselves from potential harm. Setting boundaries and being mindful of others' true intentions can prevent emotional and professional setbacks. For those who have faced such betrayals, remember: your kindness is a strength, not a weakness. For me, I have many inspirations, one of whom happens to be the former President of India, also known as the "People's President" - Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam sir. Below is one of his life stories carrying a moral value. Let us all learn this moral value & follow it throughout our life.

Happy Father's Day! One of the silver linings in the death of my father was his billfold my mother gave me after his memorial service. In his billfold was a folded up piece of paper with the "Paradoxical Commandments" by Dr. Kent Keith. My father lived those commandments and inspired me to follow in his footsteps. People are illogical, unreasonable, and self-centered. Love them anyway. If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives. Do good anyway. If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies. Succeed anyway. The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway. Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable. Be honest and frank anyway. The biggest men and women with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest men and women with the smallest minds. Think big anyway. People favor underdogs but follow only top dogs. Fight for a few underdogs anyway. What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight. Build anyway. People really need help but may attack you if you do help them. Help people anyway. Give the world the best you have and you’ll get kicked in the teeth. Give the world the best you have anyway.

We talk about disconnecting from our emotions to protect ourselves from hurt. But do you hide your true self? To practice Chinese, I have been listening to Chinese dramas. In one drama, the empress states she would always protect a palace maid because she would only be herself. This is totally out of alignment with the expected behaviour in the Forbidden Palace, where everyone is supposed to behave in specific ways. People were often punished with death when they broke the rules. The empress was envious of the maid's ability to be herself. She could not since she was not allowed to make one mistake; if she did, the people would be disappointed. Therefore, the empress stifled her true self constantly. Do you stifle your true self? I had been stifling myself, only allowing my authentic self to show when I was with someone I felt I could. But being your true self is different from worrying about what people think of you. Years ago, I decided I would not let people upset me if they didn't like me or criticised me because they didn't know me - not even my family. They only knew the parts of me that I was willing to show. Remember, our reality is our perceptions, which are all different.  I am happy to say I no longer hide the funny, quirky, and curious side of me, along with my bold, stubborn side. It's on show all the time. Life is to be lived, not stifled. We need to live as our true selves and allow ourselves to feel our emotions; vulnerability is an asset, not a burden. Are you willing to be your true self, or do you feel the need to protect yourself after the many knocks in life? Do you know... Who do you want to be?   What do you want to achieve? Your why? Are you progressing in your present, or does it feel like something is holding you back? That's how I felt when I began my journey to being me. Humility isn’t just something I learned. It is who I am, always has been. In a world where people often forget what it means to stay grounded, I never will. That’s a story for another day. B U T, Your achievements? Your status? NONE of it should lead to arrogance or a sense of superiority. Respect for others and acknowledge the higher power. THAT is where greatness lies. I read somewhere, to truly understand life, you gotta visit 3 places: 1. The hospital 2. The cemetery 3. The prison At first, I didn’t quite get it. ↳ Until, I did. • In the hospital, you see how fragile health is. It reminds you that no amount of success can replace the beauty of being well. • In the prison, you understand the value of freedom. Every moment outside those walls is a gift we take for granted until it’s gone. • In the cemetery, you realize how temporary life is. It is FRAGILE. HURT PEOPLE, HURT PEOPLE If you remember painfully someone that really hurt you, it can be easy to vilify them. They probably deserve it, but how does that help you? It can be more helpful to realise that they themselves must be in RAGING PAIN to operate that way towards others. This is how I choose to think about the woman that systemically tried to ruin my career and then later my family because she didn’t like some business decisions I made at work. I know enough about that woman to know she’s had some awful life experiences, but that understanding DOES NOT equate to sympathy or any sense of wanting to help her. That’s not my responsibility. My responsibility is to manage how I think about those situations to ensure they don’t keep affecting my life, and that of those I love. And, of course, to set strong boundaries with people like that in future. So, please don’t misunderstand this message. This understanding of the other person’s suffering is purely to give ME peace and to solidify something that I KNOW TO BE TRUE. 99% of what a person does is to do with THEM, not YOU. The next time someone does you wrong, notice how quickly you can return to PEACE when you realise it says EVERYTHING about them, and NOTHING about you.
