Excited to share our latest publication in a PUBMED indexed journal, titled "True Brachial Artery Aneurysm: A Systematic Review". One of my new years resolution was to publish impactful research. Something that adds value to the existing literature. Our systematic review delves into the demographic characteristics, aetiologies, clinical manifestations, and various treatment methods of true brachial artery aneurysms. This is basically a systematic review of case reports as you can see from the results that of 113 articles, 100 (88.4%) were case reports. True brachial artery aneurysm, although a rarity, may lead to significant neurological and vascular problems if ignored. We also identified arteriovenous fistula and immunosuppression as two significant risk factors in the development of true brachial artery aneurysm. Thus, this paper provides intriguing clinical information and lays the foundation for larger multicentric studies. Collaborating with an incredible team - Syed Muhammad Aalam, Saima Moin, Rabia Gilani, Nida Jawad, and Aayat Ellahi - has been a highlight of this project. 🚨📢 Check out the latest publication from my #BantingCanada fellowship, out today in JAMA Internal Medicine! Here, Drs. Ronda Lun, Michael Hill and I discuss the limitations/biases in retrospective data on safety of thrombolytics for #IschemicStroke in patients taking #DirectOralAnticoagulants. We are in dire need of prospective/randomized evidence to inform treatment decisions in this clinical setting. 🧠 https://lnkd.in/g6r_AY4S

Randomized controlled trials are considered the gold standard in regulatory decision making, as observational studies are known to have important methodological limitations. However, real-world evidence (#RWE) may be helpful in specific situations. Recently, PhD student Stefan Verweij and his colleagues, observed that for multiple sclerosis, real-world studies yielded treatment effect #estimates similar to those obtained from randomized controlled trials (#RCT’s). They compared evidence obtained from tens of published RCTs with evidence obtained from observational studies in a comprehensive systematic review and network meta analysis (#NMA), using posterior predictive distributions. The authors argue that, in regulatory decision making, observational studies may supplement pivotal randomized controlled trials in relapsing–remitting multiple sclerosis. For instance, by facilitating the extrapolation of trial results to the broader patient population. ➡ Do you want to learn more about this study?
