📣 Apprenticeships & Independent Training Providers 📣 We might only be a few weeks into the start of a new academic year, but already the schools I've spoken to are wanting to promote Apprenticeships more this year, which is simply fantastic! They also want to hear more from Independent Training Providers and help them meet Provider Access Legislation, which again is brilliant. If you're an Independent Training Provider operating in Gloucestershire (and I don't already know about you, then I would love to!) I've been doing EPA's (End Point Assessments) for the BCS | The Chartered Institute for IT for a good few years now and I really enjoy it! Why? ...Because it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling that these young people are going to be the Developers or Infrastructure staff of the future. Some of the people i've spoken to are really switched on! University isn't the only path to take - Apprenticeships give young people valuable hands-on skills, they earn whilst they do it, and if in IT then they are learning and most probably working on current modern technologies! Not every young person is good at exams or OK with writing large essays, and this is where apprenticeships can be so valuable. They get assessed on their real world knowledge, skills and behaviours. This in turn leads to a better workforce! Not only do they know it, but they can also show that they can do it! So if your teenager is at a crossroads at 16-18(ish) and not sure where to go next - get them looking at apprenticeships! #Apprenticeships #EPA #MakingITGoodForSociety #BCS

University of Bradford is the latest HEI to join the Aptem community and we wish the team there a very warm welcome. Similar to other institutions in the early stages of apprenticeship delivery, their team had been using existing systems which serve traditional university-style programmes. The administration, compliance and on-programme requirements for how apprenticeships operate are significantly different to traditional programmes. The University was therefore looking for a solution to develop and enhance apprenticeship administration and provide a foundation for growth. Cindy Haymes, Head of Student Systems & Data, selected Aptem, having gone out to the market to look for a cloud-based end-to-end apprenticeship management system that would: ✅ Contribute to a better experience for learners, including giving greater visibility of course expectations, progression, and learner support. ✅ Provide a centrally stored, robust, consistent system to use as an evidence base for Ofsted Inspections and ESFA compliance. ✅ Drive standardisation, streamlining and automation of administration systems to reduce the burden and risk of managing manual processes throughout the learner apprenticeship journey. ✅ Help the team fine-tune how they manage employer relationships in terms of communications and engagement. ✅ Enable more timely and accurate reporting, including measuring learner progress, and quality and compliance reporting. Great news: It has come to my attention that apprentices who have completed their qualifications can apply for letters after your name (if you so wished!) and therefore I’d like to introduce you to the Post-Apprenticeship Recognition Scheme (PARS). This scheme is designed to celebrate the unique educational path of apprenticeships, recognising the skills you have developed and your commitment to continuous professional growth. What is PARS? PARS acknowledges the accomplishments of completed apprenticeships by awarding one of four levels of recognition, each accompanied by corresponding post-nominals. These post-nominals are letters that you can use after your name to signify your achievement. The levels are: CSA (Certificate of Standard Apprenticeship) CAA (Certificate of Advanced Apprenticeship) CHA (Certificate of Higher Apprenticeship) CGA (Certificate of Graduate Apprenticeship) How to Apply: Applying for PARS is straightforward and involves three simple steps: Check Eligibility: Ensure you have completed a UK apprenticeship on or after January 1, 2019. You will need the support of your employer or an industry-linked sponsor and be in possession of your official Apprenticeship Certificate. Complete the Application: Accurately fill in the required information and provide personal reflections on your apprenticeship journey. Submit the application form. Sit Back and Relax: Await the evaluation process and keep an eye on your email inbox for updates. Benefits of PARS: Upon successful recognition, you can use the post-nominal designations to showcase your professional growth. Many of your peers are already updating their LinkedIn profiles and CVs to include their new post-nominals.
