The team at Upwell has been playing with OpenAI's Structured Outputs for GPT-4o since its release last week and I'm impressed! This solved my biggest frustration with OpenAI's API since we rely on JSON in the response to be valid and consistent. Previously, we just hoped it would be correct, it usually was but there are always those edge cases where you have to handle weird situations where the JSON comes back invalid, missing parameters, etc. This is because the response was just "text" instead of a JSON. It was also quite annoying dealing with "any" types in the response since we work TypeScript. Great job OpenAI! For those using the #GoogleGemini Google have announced Gemini's integration with the #OpenAI Library . This integration allows developers to: 👉 Access Gemini models through OpenAI's familiar interface 👉 Use both Chat Completions API and Embeddings API 👉 Implement Gemini using the OpenAI library through Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or REST API calls OpenAI's API is becoming the de facto standard for LLM interactions. This is similar to how Amazon S3's API became the de facto standard for object storage, with many services (including Google's own Cloud Storage) offering S3-compatible APIs. The OpenAI and Stack Overflow partnership was announced today. The first results will be visible in the first half of 2024. Both sides will benefit from cooperation. OpenAI plans to improve its own models on data from Stack Overflow. This means a huge portion of data on very technical, software, programming (including a lot of code!) and development topics in general. Stack Overflow plans to significantly improve its AI-based services included in OverflowAI thanks to models from OpenAI.
