A Salesperson Who Loves Solving Problems

Just passed over into H2 '24 and man... this year has been a crazy ride. About a year ago I made the jump to Nooks because I was beyond impressed by how quickly the product team was surpassing the competition, their insane amount of customer love (from notable logos), and how fixated the founders were on a goal to maximize the productivity of an SDR with AI. So sitting here looking back at H1 is quite the view: - 2x'd ARR since January - Sales team has doubled - Multiple AEs on the team hitting 200%+ their number - SDRs destroying the pipeline number (thanks to Nooks 😉) - Blowing the lid off our company revenue goal More importantly, than all of this... no one is satisfied. Our product team is still innovating, our sales team is still growing, new segments, new geos, new capabilities, new use cases. I'm beyond excited to be on this ride. To the freaking moon! 🚀

If the circumstances are beyond your control, you have to keep on doing the right thing, so you’re successful when the circumstances change. Our SDR team had record breaking months in April and May, followed by forgettable months in June & July. Shoutout to the team, because it wasn’t from a lack of effort… Market is down? Keep doing the right thing for when it picks back up! Technical issues? Find a work-around the best you can until it’s fixed. Holiday season? Probably not everywhere in the world we target. In sales, we have to stay naively optimistic, or the ship sinks.

Every experienced salesperson has experienced this. Sales is different from all other corporate roles and functions—Animal and emotional instincts play an outsized role in applying aggressiveness, listening, pursuasion, countering/challenging, and fearless persistence. And organizational changes with good business intentions can (especially when not well communicated) diminish that emotional fire.
