Most people think leadership is about having all the answers, diving into the agenda, and moving fast. But I’ve learned that’s not the whole picture. A colleague recently shared a line with me that’s stuck: “Do you need me to witness, help, or distract you right now?” It’s such a simple question, but it opens up a world of possibilities. Instead of focusing on what I need from them, it shifts the focus to what they need to do their best work. It creates space for people to show up fully, not just as employees but as creators, problem-solvers, and innovators. The best leaders know when to get out of the way and let others step into their brilliance. Try it the next time you sit down with someone. Don’t just manage the process—help them unlock their potential. The right question can change everything.

You hear it all the time. The people are what matter, and no company would be successful without their people. How many companies actually put practices into place to ensure that those people are seen, heard, and their individual driving factors are being managed to? As leaders it is your responsibility to know what your team values. Prioritize their goals and interests and see how much it impacts your business!

If you're a leader and are not seeking input from others and actively listening to the feedback you are receiving then you are not addressing challenges in an effective manner. Start with the right questions, engage your team and customers and be surprised by the diverse yet strategic ideas that are put on the table.
