As we continue to process the election results, I can’t help but think about ‘toxic rockstars.’ Yesterday, I was chatting with some friends about what they are telling their daughters. Many little girls went to bed Tuesday night expecting to wake up to  the first female President, only to open their eyes to a completely different reality. Over the last few years, I have written a lot about toxic rockstars. Most organizations have them. High performers who deliver results but create toxic environments. People who close big deals, wow clients, but create havoc everywhere else. I worry that more toxic rockstars will be tolerated, even accepted, in business settings because of what we saw play out on a national stage. I want to share what my friends are reminding their daughters: that they matter, how they show up matters. Performance cannot trump character. The same applies in company contexts. What we tolerate and what we reward as companies and leaders matters.  Now more than ever.

100% naming my next Stardew Valley character "JeremyLeeMiner." For everyone not in the know on that somewhat obscure reference, this is not how I live my real life. While I respect the "get up and grind" mindset, it's just not authentically me. And I don't like the idea that you gotta live this sort of lifestyle to be successful. You can be fueled by a purpose without min/maxing your way through the day. Maybe your fuel is to build and maintain a lifestyle where you're not stuck at your computer for 40+ hours a week. Where you stop answering emails by 4. Where maybe you don't work Fridays. Or one where you can go on vacation for two weeks and come back to a business that hasn't lit itself on fire. Maybe that freedom is an important metric of your success. Maybe you really just want more time to play Stardew Valley.

Lessons learned from my time at Moove!!! Daily, I reflect on my journey with Moove, and I have come to appreciate the growth and insights I have gained in such a short period. Here are some lessons that have truly shaped me. I wrote all these from my heart, and I have lived every single word❤️ - You feel much better about yourself when you are actively working, and contributing to the goal of the organization - It is usually really tough in the beginning, but eventually, things get easier. - Writing code is easy, understanding the data and all its nuances is the difficult part - You are only as valuable as how much value you can show - Perfection robs you of valuable time. Start just the way you are, with what you know, and iterate along the way - Mastering how to collaborate and thrive in that environment is essential. Team work truly makes the dream work. - Effort is important but results drive impact. Do all within your power to get results. - During the interview process, observe the company’s work culture. Working in an environment where you feel comfortable is non-negotiable for long-term success. - The world is beautifully diverse; different countries with different cultures. It is beautiful to see. - Success is really a culmination of many small and simple tasks. Eventually, the accumulation of these small efforts would generate something extraordinary over time. - You can do ANYTHING you believe you can. There are no boundaries to what you can achieve if you truly commit. Finally, Holistics by Holistics Data is such a phenomenal tool. It is such a game changer. I hope these lessons resonate with someone out there who is navigating their own journey😊. Don't stop.
