Thrilled and proud! 🎉 Inspired by João Theriaga Mendes’s post about Novartis being ranked #1 on the 2024 Access to Medicine Index (#ATMi) [https://bit.ly/4hXMWHI], I want to highlight one of the key achievements recognized: the inclusive business models we’ve implemented at country level to enhance access to care. These efforts span across Asia and Latin America, where we’ve been driving impactful programs for several years. I’m especially proud to have contributed to this success through our Cardiovascular Program in Bolivia, which combines tiered pricing, targeted distribution, and capacity-building efforts like telemedicine and a digital treatment distribution platform. Now that the program is going live, it’s incredibly rewarding to see our hard work making a global impact. 🌍💙 A heartfelt thank you to our amazing partners—PROCOSI, Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal), Laboratorios Bagó—and a big shoutout to my passionate colleagues: Roel Roording, Maria Teresa Montellano, Monica Quijano, João Theriaga Mendes, Caroline Demacq, Sofía Castresana, Isabelle Lindenmayer, Borja SM, Dr. Vamsidhar Chaturvedula, Kyoung-In DESCOMBES - CSCP, Claudia Leteneux. 🙌 Together, we’re proving that sustainable solutions can truly transform healthcare access. 💪 #AccessToMedicine #GlobalHealth #HealthEquity #InnovativeModels #SustainableImpact #ACCESSBolivia #SaludParaTodos #InnovaciónEnSalud

#ElevateHealth: the interplay between individuals, healthcare institutions and the healthcare ecosystem. 💭The simple three-layers graphic Dr. Petra Nathan posted tries to structure a complex interplay that is acutely relevant, and we must discuss if we are to overcome some of the constraints in our ability to care for patients and drive for the best health-outcomes. Why this is so, is illustrated in the following example. ✅In a recent client project, Volv Global SA demonstrated that it is possible to predict undiagnosed patients living with Fabry or Pompe disease, so that GPs can triage them for referral and confirmatory diagnosis. A brilliant result, one would think. Because left unchecked, both diseases, for which there are effective treatments, lead to serious complications affecting several organs, and poor outcomes for patients. 🚧However, we soon discovered a barrier in one of the EU countries for which we calibrated these algorithms: under changing regulations, it has become seemingly impossible to generate the evidence package to support a health technology assessment for medical device registration. 🛣A way forward is needed to navigate the regulatory landscape and optimise for the best outcomes at all levels in the system: patients seeking benefit from timely diagnosis; HCPs whose workload needs to remain manageable to provide the right levels of care and an overall healthcare system that remains affordable. 💡This example illustrates that we need to explore and understand the relationship between the layers in the system. Seek the dialogue, reveal the barriers and jointly establish the optimal way forward, to enabling patient journeys that lead to the best outcomes for patients in a sustainable manner. Just wrapped up some inspiring sessions at Ausbiotech today, and the key themes for staying ahead in our industry couldn’t be more relevant. To drive real impact and bring more clinical trials to Australia, we need to focus on: • Diversity: Leveraging Australia’s diverse population to ensure clinical data is inclusive and representative. • Disease Focus: Targeting areas where Australia excels in recruitment, like infectious disease, to build on our strengths. • Education: Equipping teams and communities with the knowledge to adapt and thrive in an evolving healthcare landscape. • Streamlined Clinical Trials: Tackling healthcare system barriers that impede trials, so breakthroughs reach patients faster. • Teletrials: Enhancing access through teletrials to include patients from outside metro areas, fostering inclusivity and participation. These areas will shape the future of our industry and help us deliver better outcomes for all. #Ausbiotech #HealthcareInnovation #ClinicalTrials #Teletrials #DiversityInHealthcare #EducationInHealth

Currently attending the World Orphan Drug Congress in Boston, the Alethium team (Joseph Farrell, Brant DeBow and Carissa Sinclair) found Rachael Sawaya's perspective on mobile visits in rare disease research to be particularly noteworthy. 💡 Patient enrollment and retention remain major obstacles in rare disease medical research, and Sawaya illustrated how mobile visits in clinical trials can bridge that gap. ✅ Mobile visits ease the burden on patients and their families to travel, leading to enhanced participation and compliance. ✅ Researchers can engage with participants who may live in remote or underserved areas, broadening their pool of potential participants. ✅ Reaching more participants, researchers can achieve a more diverse study population, which is essential for understanding rare diseases. ✅ In-home visits enable real-time monitoring of participants' health and treatment progress, offering researchers more accurate and timely data for the study. ✅ Remote training for local healthcare providers expands expertise in areas with limited sites. At Alethium Health, our platform integrates mobile visits to streamline trial protocols and enable convenient participant-researcher interactions. By simplifying data collection and monitoring, we help drive progress in rare disease research without logistical complications. 🌐 #ClinicalTrials #WorldOrphanUSA #ClinicalTrialsMobileVisits

🌍 World Orphan Drug Congress 2024 Highlights 🌍 Sarah Mikhailov and Gemma McCarthy attended the World Orphan Drug Congress 2024 in Barcelona this week. The congress emphasized Europe’s need for stronger rare disease policies, investment in R&D, and patient-centric approaches. Key discussions included the EUHTA implementation, AI in small data sets, and the importance of cross-sector partnerships. The event highlighted the urgent need for action to regain Europe’s competitive edge in clinical trials, address disparities in patient access, and foster innovation through better data sharing and regulatory processes. Other topics included the importance of holistic care, including mental health support, and the need for harmonized cooperation across EU markets. Great discussions and clear priorities for how to take action in #Rare. We all have our part to play. #BetterTogether #WorldOrphanDrugCongress #WODC2024 #RareDiseases #HealthcareInnovation #HLM #Havas

So thrilled to be in Sevilla, Spain, with many #MASLD / #MASH collaborators to kick-off the GRIPonMASH Innovative Health Initiative (IHI) unded project and represent Biocellvia Luca Miele and I presented the content of the project we lead, which goal is to build AI-based decision tools to predict #Fibroscan score in the context of primary healthcare practice, with general practitioners who don't have access to Fibroscan. This would be a huge step for screening patients at-risk for advanced #fibrosis. Very good panel discussion with Jo Massoels, Francesca Braga (Echosens), Onno (A.G.) Holleboom, Samuel Daniels (AstraZeneca) and Vicente Artola Arita (UMC Utrecht). Brianna Goodale, Andrada Mihaela Tudor, Roberta Iaccarino, Vivian de Jong, Manuel Castro Cabezas Manuel Romero Gomez, Aldo TRYLESINSKI, David Nikodem, Ph.D. , Diederick (Rick) E.
