Nonprofits do “profit” citizens, communities and cultures in numerous ways. Nonprofits are there to source relief organizations, scholarship initiatives, free clinics and literacy programs. Are there to preserve a city’s historical assets, civic treasures and environmental aesthetics. Are there to promote and to ensure the progress of grassroots causes—in your neighborhood and mine too. Are there to answer our calls…fill in our gaps…elevate our understanding of what matters most. Are there enriching, enhancing and expanding the goodwill, good sense, good deeds and good faith already present in society. And in doing this, nonprofits profit all. Upholding what is most necessary, noble and nonnegotiable for all. Another thought from my “A Sector of Better Angels” series.

We all want human flourishing and the common good. And $$$ helps. **Obviously** But if you want your foundation/donor money to go further, add the secret sauce of capacity building. Building leaders who learn the skills for this moment, make more strategic decisions, and foster collaborative communities. Most busy nonprofit leaders don’t change by reading a book. Change often happens over time, within a cohort, guided by an expert coach, and focusing on no more than 5 action items.
Join us on Leap Day to hear two experts on capacity building discuss the ins and outs of this important fundraising strategy. Donors and nonprofits alike stand to benefit from talking with Sadie Elliott and Kimberly Thornbury about how to use capacity building to their advantage.

How would we act if we truly loved the future? 🌏 I had the privilege of attending Fresh Energy's Benefit Breakfast, featuring the inspiring Dr. Ayana Elizabeth Johnson. Her message centered around that simple yet profound question. Her solutions-oriented approach emphasized that it's not enough to discuss the problems of climate change; we must also be practical problem solvers, leveraging technology, policy, and nature. She highlighted several key insights: 💡 Leverage Existing Tech Utilize tools like AI climate modeling, energy storage systems, and smart grids to make immediate impact. ☀️ Policy for Energy Access Implement measures like community solar and affordable battery storage to make clean energy accessible for all. 🌾 Design with Nature Integrate practices like regenerative agriculture and green buildings to create sustainable, resilient systems. Her insights align deeply with strategic foresights frameworks, showing that action is within our grasp if we focus on these key areas. The intersection of technology, policy, and functional design is not only the way forward but the solution we need. #StrategicForesight #Innovation #EmergingTech #ClimateAction #Sustainability
