How many of you recall having gaming time limits during your childhood? 🙋♀️ 🕹️ Today, as adults, there has been a significant shift in the narrative. With the stress of real-world responsibilities, is it now acceptable to assert that gaming can be beneficial for mental health? 🌟 I'm witnessing an industry trend where developers are intentionally incorporating mental health initiatives into their games. For instance, ZiMad's Magic Jigsaw Puzzles has created a calming Spotify playlist for mental health awareness. While this may not make huge waves, it's a step in the right conscious direction. According to this Pocket Gamer article, here are the top 5 apps for mental health: https://lnkd.in/deqKVtdq Of course, everything in moderation, but could gaming be a tool for mental health? 🧘♂️ It's exciting to see how gaming can merge entertainment with mental well-being, showcasing how our understanding of technology's impact is constantly evolving. 🚀 #MentalHealth #Gaming #StressRelief #Wellbeing #Mindfulness #TechForGood

TIPS FOR GAMERS TO MAKE GAMER THERAPY MOST EFFECTIVE. In the world of mental health, video games have become more than just entertainment—they're tools for healing. But remember, the only person you can change is… YOU. Here are some tips that will make gaming therapy effective and fun. When you're with your therapist, don't hide your gaming habits. Instead, share your gaming experiences. Your favorite games can reveal a lot about you—your coping mechanisms, your need for connection, and how you handle challenges. By sharing these stories, you give your therapist valuable insights. Think of your therapy session as navigating through a game. Admitting that you're a gamer isn't a bad thing; it shows self-awareness. Your gaming experiences can even help guide your therapy journey. Are video games bad for your mental health? Today we’re chatting with Jacob, a life-long gamer, who shares how gaming has affected his mental health — both negatively and for the better. Jacob now runs a ministry called The Big LAN seeking to reach one of the groups least represented in the church—gamers—and build off their existing hobbies and interests, providing positive opportunities for social interaction and inviting gamers into spaces where they might also encounter Jesus. In this episode we hear Jacob’s personal story and discuss the bigger picture of gaming, as well as what we might need to watch out for in this space as Christians. We’re also joined by a familiar voice, Maddy—an outsider to the world of gaming—to give our conversation a range of different experiences. Listen to Episode 34 using the link below, or on your listening platform of choice. https://buff.ly/4fAhNJh What about you — do you think gaming affects your mental health, for better or worse? We'd love to hear your thoughts!

In the realm of pixels and power-ups, mental health struggles can still find us. Picture this: you're ready to dive into your favorite game, anticipating some epic fun, but instead of excitement, you feel down. This could be gamer depression. Gamer depression is the experience of feeling unhappy or down in relation to gaming activities. While gaming is typically a source of enjoyment and relaxation, external pressures or personal challenges can dull these positive feelings, leaving gamers disillusioned and disconnected. It's more than just feeling sad while gaming; it's like being trapped in a loop of negativity. The more down you feel about gaming, the less you want to play, and the less you play, the worse you feel. How do you know if you're dealing with gamer depression? Look out for these signs: 📌 Feeling sad or empty while gaming 📌 Losing interest in gaming or other activities you used to enjoy 📌 Having trouble concentrating or making decisions in-game 📌 Avoiding friends or gaming communities 📌 Getting easily annoyed or upset while gaming 📌 Feeling physically tired or achy after playing for a while Book your session now... https://lnkd.in/gxyTX2yq or give us a ring at 647-515-4357. #corecentre #corecentreonline #psychology
