Teachers' Day provides an opportunity for students, parents, and communities to express their gratitude and appreciation for teachers. Celebrations may include ceremonies, awards, and various activities that highlight the exceptional work of educators. Schools often organize special events where students can express their thanks through letters, performances, and gifts. These gestures, while small, are powerful in acknowledging the hard work and passion that teachers bring to their profession. Furthermore, Teachers' Day serves as a reminder of the need for continued support and investment in education. Recognizing the efforts of teachers is not just about one day of celebration; it is also about advocating for policies and resources that support and empower educators throughout the year. Teachers' Day is a celebration of the invaluable contributions of educators who dedicate their lives to nurturing and guiding the next generation. As architects of our future, teachers shape the intellectual and moral development of students, influencing their lives in profound ways. By acknowledging their efforts and addressing the challenges they face, we honor their commitment and ensure that the profession continues to thrive. This day of recognition not only celebrates the past and present contributions of teachers but also highlights the ongoing need to support and appreciate those who mold our future.

Congratulations to all graduates of all Yonkers High Schools! So many students feel intense pressure with life when change happens and what feels like an insurmountable decision. Not every student knows what they want past high school. However, in my opinion many more would benefit from a college degree. Over the past several years the percentage of high school graduates pursuing college has dropped dramatically. Mayor Spano and all educators in Yonkers Schools have done a wonderful job improving the overall high school graduation rate. They’re also focused on success beyond graduation. As a college president, I firmly believe in the value of a #collegeeducation that is #careerspecific such as that which we offer at the The College of Westchester. We rank 6th for social mobility for regional colleges north per US News. That’s an education with results. Our focused curriculum and accelerated format allows a student to obtain a bachelor’s degree in three years. Shorter time in college and an emphasis on a chosen career path allows for faster job entry with results. As a graduate, and President, I highly encourage all students to consider pursuing college. Parents, it is not too late for your graduating senior to apply, get accepted and enroll! We also offer associate degrees, certificates and accelerated study for adults on campus or online. https://lnkd.in/eZ2pMCjB I’d love to see you at CW!
Today is the day! This morning we start our series of graduations for the Class of 2024. To the parents, families, teachers, and students thank you for your dedication and commitment. We are so proud of you!

"As the new year begins, it's the perfect time to reflect on how we approach gifted education, both in the classroom and at home. For educators and parents, reimagining rigor means creating an environment that encourages students to think critically, creatively, and deeply." https://lnkd.in/gS5Vf2Xn

STEM should serve as the cornerstone of education everywhere. It encompasses much more than just science, technology, engineering, and math. STEM education fosters collaboration, builds confidence, enhances language skills, promotes communication, improves reading comprehension, connects to history, and encourages fluency. In essence, STEM education offers a well-rounded, holistic approach to learning.
Thank you, Jacksonville Elementary School Team, for allowing us to share STEM-based learning with your students and families last night! It was a joy to see familiar faces and parents inquiring about summer STEM camps for their children. Building future leaders is truly fantastic! https://lnkd.in/g3HgVKB2

Good morning, 🌞 As we kick off another day, let’s pause to recognize the resilience, commitment, and heart educators bring to our schools each and every day. 🏫💪 Our education system faces a multitude of challenges—some are age-old, others are new and complex. From balancing academics with social-emotional support, to navigating ever-evolving policies, educators are adapting and growing daily to meet the needs of their students. It's a heavy lift, but it’s a calling grounded in a vision for brighter futures. To all the teachers, coaches, principals, and education leaders out there, let’s remember: continuous learning is key. 📚 When we invest in learning more, we can do more—whether that’s refining teaching strategies, embracing innovative tools, or building stronger connections within our communities. Let’s keep pushing forward, leaning on each other, and staying inspired to make a difference. Together, we’re not only shaping students’ lives but also paving the way for a stronger tomorrow. 🌟 Keep going, keep learning, and keep doing the amazing work that only you can do!

We are thrilled to announce that the Tennessee Grow Your Own Center has been awarded a $500,000 grant as part of the University of Tennessee System's Grand Challenges initiative! 👏 This competitive funding opportunity is designed to tackle some of Tennessee’s most pressing issues, and we’re honored to be a part of the effort to advance K–12 education in the state. Our grant-funded project, the Grow Your Own Collaboratory, aims to address Tennessee’s educator shortage by enhancing the professional development of mentor teachers — an essential step in retaining novice teachers. Over the next two years, this project will: ➡️ Design, implement and refine a co-created summer mentor teacher training retreat. ➡️Conduct research to evaluate the retreat’s impact on teacher satisfaction and retention. ➡️Build a sustainable mentor teacher professional development program to be scaled statewide through the Tennessee Grow Your Own Center.
