Our latest research: The changing nature of how and where Australians play sport. When we think of playing sport many of us think of our local community clubs. Participation within sports clubs for children increased for some sports. However, adults are less likely then previous years to play sport within clubs. 63% of children's participation in sport was within a club setting, whereas the majority of adult participation in sport (64%) is played outside of community sports clubs. We need to continue to have a range of sport opportunities, programs and settings so Australians can play the sport of their choice, their way. Nope .. The government does NOT need to be involved in youth sports and the management of it. The article mentions tax breaks and write offs for youth sports expense, this would not open more opportunities for more kids to play sports. This break would only give the current travel programs more availability to deduct the expenses. Which would be great, however that WILL NOT fix the problem of getting more kids involved and playing youth sports. As a community, we have to do better at providing more competitive programming that allows kids to play at a higher level without having to travel and pay those fees in order to accomplish that. Kids can play locally and be competitive if the programs are properly organized! #youthsports #empower

Highly recommended read on the importance of inclusion in sports! This article provides a comprehensive framework that is essential for anyone involved in sports management, public policy, or community programs. The article explores how sports clubs can serve as a catalyst for integrating migrants and refugees, addressing the complexities of implementation at various levels. It presents a conceptual framework that bundles current integration research and supports practitioners in developing evaluation schemes and revising existing programs. My takeaways and reflections after reading this article: • It’s important to understand how sports clubs in my state and my country implement integration policies. • Integration efforts go beyond sports-related activities and influence the social commitments and interactions. Members experience a stronger sense of belonging and community, which can enhance their overall well-being. • There is a need for tailored approaches for different migrant groups to ensure effective integration. Each group has unique cultural, linguistic, and social backgrounds, so a one-size-fits-all approach doesn’t work. Programs need to be adapted to fit the specific needs and circumstances of each group. • I’ve noticed that sports clubs in the US, especially small for-profit businesses, often do not consider refugees as potential members. We should start working collectively to educate sports club owners and administrators on the benefits of integration for their programs, community, and our society in general. As an immigrant who was married to a refugee, I’ve experienced all sides of this issue and can personally attest that sports are a powerful catalyst for integration in society. This article comes highly recommended by my professor of Leadership and People Management in Sport, Tracy Taylor. Her endorsement highlights the significance this research in the field of sports inclusion. Don’t miss out on this essential read! #SportsManagement #Inclusion #CommunityIntegration #Migrants #Refugees #Research #SportsBasedPrograms

The Economic Impact of Football on Local Communities? Football - often referred to as "the beautiful game" - is more than just a sport in the UK; it's a cultural and economic powerhouse. Beyond the glitz and glamour of the Premier League, football has a profound impact on local communities across the country. From grassroots clubs to professional teams, the football industry generates substantial revenue through ticket sales, merchandise, and broadcasting rights. Often, we see a portion of these earnings reinvested into local economies, supporting businesses, creating jobs, and improving infrastructure. Football clubs act as community hubs, providing facilities for youth development, education, and social programs. These initiatives not only benefit young people but also strengthen the overall fabric of the community. It is evident that football plays a crucial role in driving economic growth and social cohesion within local communities. By recognising and supporting the positive impact of the sport, we can continue to foster its development and ensure its enduring legacy. Do you have a local football team? In the last 10 years, I've dived deep into the world of registration systems. From evaluating the most basic platforms to engaging with the most sophisticated solutions, I've seen it all. Each system was born from the idea that it could outperform its predecessors, yet they all face a common challenge: keeping pace with the user experience standards set by giants like Amazon, Apple, and Netflix. Why does this matter? In the world of youth sports, where I've dedicated over two decades of my life, the expectations of parents and participants are shaped by their daily interactions with these tech behemoths. They're accustomed to seamless, intuitive experiences. When they encounter a registration system that's anything but, frustration is inevitable. But here's the thing - it's not just about avoiding frustration. It's about embracing the opportunity to set a new standard in our niche. The right registration system can transform the user experience, making it a powerful tool in the growth and management of youth sports organizations. As we navigate this ever-evolving landscape, I encourage my fellow youth sports executives to consider not just the functionality, but the user experience of the registration platforms we choose. It's a pivotal component of our service that can significantly impact participant satisfaction and retention. What are your thoughts on this? Have you encountered a registration system that truly understands the modern user's expectations? Let's discuss the future of registration systems in the context of user experience excellence. #YouthSports #RegistrationSystems #UserExperience #InnovationInSports
