Indeed there were so many significant milestones and achievements on that early part of our journey with the risk appetite and aggresiveness nature of our business model then.. Nonetheless in business, there is no ultimate summit, but a continuous journey knowing that we have to face many challenges in the horizon. We had roller coaster ride since then with the deepest dive during the pandemic..Our hospitality business Hotel Atienza Baler ( Hotel A) and, Casa Herminia Baler were closed for almost 2 years with continous accumulation of bank interest and penalty during pandemic ..it was a double edge sword since our modular cabinet Kitchen Square by IMIC and glass mosaic Bisazza Philippines Inc. got hit as well where most of its hotel clients deferred their capital expenditure. Now 2 years after , while still reeling from the effect of pandemic, the team spirit is more resilient than ever, gaining more wisdom and maturity..While our team members are mostly veterans of difficult times, we now think and operate like a start up business, but no longer naive, pivoting to new strategy aligning to the continuous changing landscape of business.. (Booth 8132, Hot Products Section in case you're around) 1️⃣ Well, first of all, it's the world's largest natural products trade show. So where better for a Portuguese brand to connect with retail professionals than on the show floor? With human interaction where you can truly introduce yourself. Not an email, not a message on LinkedIn, but a voice and a face behind the introduction. For us, that is priceless. 2️⃣ Secondly, we know the secret to our product specifically: we must get it into people's mouths. Once they try it, we have the experience; our conversion rate is high! And this is our opportunity to ensure that a category manager tries at least a spoonful. Now, we know our product is good. But we understand some other questions could be raised for a Portuguese startup entering the United States. And this leads us to point number three. 3️⃣ It gives us no other choice but to act on our logistical weaknesses. We knew we wanted to produce in the US, keeping our ingredient suppliers from Europe. We knew we wanted to open a subsidiary in the US to lower bureaucratic barriers. And we knew we wanted to invest in the US economy and become part of it. Expo West made us do it! We had no other option, we had a deadline. So yes, $7000 booth investment plus all the additional costs that Expo West requires later.
