Health and poverty are deeply interconnected. Evidence from around the world confirms the strong link between poverty, hunger, and poor child health. Extreme poverty influences health in multiple ways and it is established that reducing poverty would significantly enhance public health outcomes more than any other intervention. Lancet's recent issue highlights the same (https://hubs.li/Q02CM-Lr0) and urgent need to reduce poverty and build safety nets. #Health #Poverty #PublicHealth #GlobalHealth #EndPoverty #Lancet #Publichealth

Today, as I delve into a newspaper from 70 years ago, I am struck by the eerie resemblance of its headlines to our present-day struggles. "The poor are becoming poorer," a phrase that could very well be lifted from today’s news. This discovery is a stark reminder of how certain issues persist through generations. Despite technological advancements and economic growth, the structural inequalities that trap people in poverty remain unaltered. It raises important questions about our progress and the effectiveness of our policies over the decades. We need to ask: Why haven't things changed? How can we make better policies? What can we do to help? #Poverty #EconomicInequality #PolicyChange #SustainableDevelopment #EducationForAll #History #SocialJustice.
