I first saw Duncan Meisel present "The Pledge" and the work they're doing at Clean Creatives at Sustainable Brands last year. He was on a panel with Paul Moinester of The Outdoor Policy Outfit, and Kate Ogden at Seventh Generation (both of whom I'd also like to have on this show! 😁). It was one of the sessions where I went, "Wow, that's a fresh topic/concept that wasn't really on my radar..." I hit him up after the panel, we planted a seed, and eventually pinned down a time for a chat. Clean Creatives is a movement of advertisers, PR professionals, and their clients cutting ties with fossil fuels. Their pitch to creatives: fossil fuel clients represent a threat to our shared future. And since their founding, over 900 agencies have pledged to not work with them. Dive in and hear how the movement started, why pledging not to work for fossil fuels polluters is the best way to show you are committed to a sustainable future for the creative industry, and about the real reputational risks associated with working with problematic industries. Lots to unwrap in this one - thanks for the time, Duncan! Got a guest or a topic we should consider? Listen to our CEO hammer out the need to leave legislation open to innovation in CIWM’s latest podcast. Delete the words ‘return to retail’ from the DRS legislation and allow consumers the choice of continuing to recycle at kerbside (using 2020’s app-based technology) or travel to a reverse vending machine (using 1980’s mechanical technology). Innovation and digital transformation is a desperate necessity for Resources and Waste strategy in the U.K. Polytag is proud to be working with various recycling agencies in France (Citeo) and across other countries in Europe; seeing the U.K. get left behind and locked into 10 years+ of reverse vending machine nonsense is a tragedy that could so easily be avoided with a little bit of flexibility in DRS legislation. Are you keen to discuss this with us Steve Reed and Mary Creagh CBE? We would love to introduce you to our brand clients who believe in the power of innovation and digital solutions too. Brands like Ocado, Aldi, M&S, Co-op and Highland Spring to name a few….
The importance of leaving legislation open to innovation. During last week’s Beyond Waste Podcast, Polytag CEO Alice Rackley spoke about the impact legislation and policy has on innovative businesses like Polytag.
