Now that Proposition 1 passed, what does it mean to Californians? Read on as we will be watching and participating as often and as appropriate as possible. Proposition 1 Creates Behavioral Health Transformation (BHT) and DHCS is taking a step forward to modernize the state’s behavioral health delivery system. BHT is supported by the passage of Proposition 1, which: - Evolves the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) into the Behavioral Health Services Act (BHSA). - Allocates funding to provide services to those with the most serious mental health conditions and/or substance use disorder. - Updates MHSA funding allocations by increasing support for housing interventions and workforce investments, continuing flexibility to use resources for local needs, and strengthening county oversight and fiscal accountability. - Allocates $6.4 billion in bonds to build 11,150 new behavioral health treatment beds and supportive housing, as well as outpatient capacity to help serve tens of thousands of people annually – from intensive services for people experiencing homelessness who also have severe mental illness, to counseling for children with depression, and everyone in between, including more than $4 billion for additional Behavioral Health Continuum Infrastructure Program investments. You can check the DCBH website for more information. https://lnkd.in/gd6AQDdG

With its historic $240 million investment in behavioral healthcare services in 400 Community Health Centers around the country, the Biden-Harris administration is taking a significant step toward improving equity in mental health and substance use disorder care. NACHC has continuously advocated for policies to support health centers’ ability to fully integrate behavioral health services with primary care settings. The mental health services provided by health centers can vary based on the needs of the community where facility sites reside. Health centers offer a wide range of integrated mental and behavioral health services for children and adults, such as: 🔵 comprehensive individual or group counseling 🔵 intensive outpatient services 🔵 addiction and recovery services 🔵 Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) 🔵 school-based therapy 🔵 crisis services View NACHC's full statement on the funding that Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSAgov), HHS, is distributing to fund new and existing health center programs: https://lnkd.in/ej2Pe_pK #ValueCHCs #MentalHealth

CEO Julia Luey writes that what's often ignored in the conversation about the lack of available mental health resources is just how many providers are "ready and willing to expand their services." We are encouraged by the actions of the State Legislature and the Department of Health this year, but more must be done to increase investment in community-based services and expand life-saving behavioral health support for young Alaskans. #youthmentalhealthcrisis #alaska #communitybasedservices https://lnkd.in/ggVrssN6
OPINION: Alaska’s young people are suffering. What are we doing to save them?

🌟 **Empowering Families with CFTSS and HCBS** 🌟 Having witnessed firsthand the challenges families face when children's behavioral services are not provided early on, I understand the profound impact comprehensive support can have. In the evolving landscape of children's mental health, Children and Family Treatment and Support Services (CFTSS) and Children’s Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) offer vital, family-centered care. Some Key Aspects of CFTSS and HCBS: -Community Psychiatric Support and Treatment (CPST): Personalized, goal-directed services to help manage mental health challenges. - Crisis Services and Response (CSR): Immediate interventions to stabilize crises and prevent hospitalizations. - Family and Youth Peer Support: Guidance, mentorship, and advocacy from those with lived experience. - HCBS: Flexible, community-based services designed to support children with significant behavioral health needs, allowing them to remain at home and participate in their community. Integrating these services addresses immediate needs and empowers families with long-term resources. This focus on holistic, trauma-informed care ensures children and families receive tailored support. At ClinOps Consulting, we are passionate about enhancing access to these services and supporting the mental health and well-being of children and families. According to Mount Nittany Health’s 2022 Community Health Needs Assessment, behavioral health was identified as the most pressing concern for residents and the top missing community resource. In the Emergency Department at Mount Nittany Medical Center, case managers work alongside providers and staff to ensure patients receive the most timely, equitable, patient-centered care possible. This team of 10 case managers cares for roughly 1,800 behavioral health patients each year, including approximately 225 children and adolescents, with the goal of improving access to screening, support, education, and treatment for individuals struggling with behavioral health problems.
