What remains the key mission of journalism in the emerging world of AI? This was the pivotal question at this year’s International News Media Association (INMA) World Congress of News Media in London, which united thought leaders from across the globe. Our CEO Mathias Döpfner took center stage with a keynote titled “Lessons in Leadership”, outlining Axel Springer’s evolution from a traditional German print publisher to a digital, transatlantic media powerhouse. What are Mathias’ three key requirements for future-proof journalism? 💡We must embrace technological innovations like Artificial Intelligence, especially Large Language Models. 💡 We must establish a fair legal framework that enables journalism as a sustainable business model. 💡 We must uphold journalistic standards such as non-partisanship and originality to build and keep the trust of our users and readers. ___ #INMA #WorldCongressofNewsMedia #Journalism #AxelSpringer #INMA2024 #GMA2024

When a journalism conference spends most of the day focusing on disruptive tech, you know it's addressing the future. No surprise, then, that AI took centre stage at #Newsrewired in London. It’s clear that many newsrooms are struggling to keep pace with the rapid growth of Artificial Intelligence, but today offered a valuable opportunity to hear diverse perspectives from industry experts and peers. The challenges, and the potential, that AI presents to publishers are significant. Big thanks to Journalism.co.uk for organising such a thought-provoking event, and to Sean Gourley for delivering a powerful keynote. He opened the day with a provocative question: as journalists we deal in facts and truth, but could our audiences be increasingly drawn to an AI-generated world over reality? The conversations today reinforced how critical it is for newsrooms to adapt, while staying true to their core mission of delivering credible journalism in an age of rapid technological change. #News #Journalism #AIinJournalism #MediaInnovation #FutureOfNews
