🌾 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐅𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 - 𝐏𝐀𝐇𝐀𝐃 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭 🌿 A meeting with support from M3M Foundation and DoCC SPJIMR was recently conducted with farmers from Laech village in #Chamba district, #Himachal Pradesh, focusing on promoting #sustainable farming practices and healthier lifestyle choices. The session aimed to educate the #community on the impact of conventional #farming methods and introduce them to alternative, eco-friendly practices that can enhance both soil #health and personal well-being. 1. Farmers were informed about the harmful effects of extensive pesticide and weedicide use, which degrade soil quality and pose #health risks due to toxic residues in #food. 2. The need for eco-friendly farming practices was emphasized to protect soil health, conserve water resources, and safeguard #public health. 3. Local villagers were educated on the nutritional benefits of #millets, such as finger millet and pearl millet. These gluten-free grains have a low glycemic index and are ideal for blood sugar #management and digestive health. 4. The environmental benefits of #millet cultivation were highlighted, including their low water requirements and climate resilience, which make them a sustainable crop for the #region. 5. Farmers and villagers were shown how to make tea from Indian Crown Grass, promoting the use of local #resources and offering potential health benefits. 6.
