MethaneSAT, the world’s most advanced methane-detecting satellite, was launched on March 4th, 2024, to identify the largest emitters of methane. The satellite will provide real-time information on methane emissions, enabling the public to track the emissions and hold oil and gas companies accountable for their environmental impact. Gas-powered actuators for valve operation can be a significant source of greenhouse gas emissions. During operation of pipeline-gas assisted actuators, natural gas exhausts to the atmosphere. This venting is considered fugitive emission of greenhouse gases. The market need for a zero-emission valve automation solution has been met with the Volta. This robust and highly customizable system can be utilized in many automated valve applications helping companies reduce their carbon footprint. The launch of MethaneSAT is a reminder that reducing greenhouse gas emissions is a critical issue that requires innovative solutions.
