Obligatory. Jokes aside: Who does a all-or-nothing production deployment on a Friday, across all customers, time zomes and verticals? No gradual/rolling pre-production deployment limited to select customers and/or verticals? You always start with a few beta customers, in a limited field (say, banks or retail), in one region. Then to other regions. Progressively, then to another vertical (transportation), leaving the most critical last (hospitals.) Production Rollout 101. Unless we are talking about emergency zero-day patches, “Going for Broke” is not sound software engineering policy. This affected transportation and medical services, including hospitals. Thus, it is possible (not necessarily likely, but possible) that people were put in danger. 🤷♂️
