For me this highlights so many problems with the way recruitment is normally approached, and why if you think about the actual end state trying to be achieved the perfect talent can be found in the most unlikely of places! Direct experience for me is massively overrated, and is given far too much gravitas when it comes to recruitment. Recruitment processes need to look beyond what is on paper/CVs and see individuals with transferable skills, the right values for an organisation and an attitude to learn, adapt and evolve with it.
