I attended a webinar that marked the launch of the Internal Communication Guide, co-authored by The Institute for Internal Communication Africa (IFICA) and The Comms Avenue. It was an enlightening session that highlighted the growing recognition of internal communication as a vital component of corporate strategy. This topic is particularly close to my heart—I wrote my thesis on Internal Communication and its effects on Brand Performance. During my research, I encountered scholars like Eke (2020) and Smidts et al. (2001), who assert that internal communication is both under-researched and undervalued by communication practitioners. The insights shared during the webinar strongly resonated with these findings, underscoring the need to elevate internal communication to a more prominent role. It was interesting to hear the speakers articulate IFICA's mandate to position internal communication as a strategic discipline across Africa. They brilliantly demonstrated how this transformation makes internal communication a critical enabler of organizational goals, employee engagement, and corporate alignment. As someone deeply passionate about the transformative power of communication, I am thrilled to see the growing momentum in this space. Internal communication is far more than just a support function—it is a powerful tool for driving organizational success and shaping a cohesive corporate culture. I look forward to more engaging conversations that amplify the value of internal communication across the continent!

On #WorldPRDay2024, we celebrate the evolution of PR in Kenya. ✅ Pre-Independence: PR was used by the British to manage information, while indigenous communities relied on storytelling and rituals. ✅ Post-Independence: Ministry of Information, Broadcasting and Tourism established a PR department. ✅ 1970s & 1980s: Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK) was established in 1971, professionalizing PR. ✅ 1990s & Beyond: Economic liberalization and social media transformed PR practices, making it essential for communication and advocacy. From traditional media to digital platforms, #PRinKenya continues to shape our society and brand perceptions.
