🚀5 Steps to Successfully Engage Your Team 🚀 Want to build a strong team? As a leader, it's important to not just direct others around like a herd of sheep, but to empower, encourage, and engage your team. Here are five simple ways to achieve that: 1️⃣ Encourage your team often: Tell them they've done something well, congratulate them on a big win, say it out loud, in an email, or via a chat platform -- do this all the time. When you reward people with words, it leads to a more motivated team, and they'll continue to do their jobs well. 2️⃣ Ask for clarification and explanations: Ask questions, and pay attention to what your team is doing. When people are asked to explain something that they're learning or processing, it can actually help them grasp the concept even better. When this exchange is done, it creates a teachable moment for everyone involved -- including you, the leader. 3️⃣ Let them experiment: Not everything will go wrong if you give your team some freedom to play. When you allow your team to experiment, support and encourage them. New possibilities will emerge and they'll be better for it, and you might even learn something, too. 4️⃣ Seek feedback: Get into the habit of asking for your team's input rather than just assuming everyone is going along with your one-person show. Make an effort to open them up. True transparency cuts both ways. It may even involve a few cuts to your ego, but it's worth it in the long run. 5️⃣ Give them space: Allow your team to learn to lead without you hovering over them. After you've asked their opinions and let them explain how they work, leave the nest. If you have a strong company culture, you can be certain that if they have any questions, they'll be open, honest, and unafraid to come to you to ask. Remember, as professional leaders, we have an obligation to build up the people around us. By following these five simple ways, you can successfully encourage, empower, and engage your team, and help them reach their full potential. #Leadership #TeamBuilding #Empowerment 💡 Follow @OrganisationsThatMatter if you liked this post and want to see more like it! 👉 What's your favorite way to engage your team? Struggling to lead a team? Communication is the glue that holds a team together. Leading a team can be challenging, but effective communication is the secret sauce that holds it all together! Here's what to do (and what not to do) to navigate the leadership journey successfully: ✅ Do: Foster Open Dialogue - Encourage your team members to share their thoughts, ideas, and concerns openly. Create a safe space where everyone feels heard and valued. ❌ Don't: Micromanage - Trust your team members to do their jobs effectively. Constantly hovering over their shoulders can stifle creativity and autonomy. ✅ Do: Set Clear Expectations - Communicate your expectations regarding roles, responsibilities, and goals. This ensures everyone is on the same page and working towards a common objective. ❌ Don't: Assume - Avoid making assumptions about what your team members know or understand. Clarify expectations and provide necessary guidance to prevent misunderstandings. ✅ Do: Provide Constructive Feedback - Offer feedback constructively and respectfully. Focus on specific behaviors and offer suggestions for improvement to help your team members grow. ❌Don't: Criticize Publicly - Avoid criticizing team members publicly, as it can damage morale and erode trust. Address concerns privately and offer support to help them improve. ✅ Do: Listen Actively - Practice active listening to understand your team members' perspectives and concerns fully. Show empathy and validate their feelings to build trust and rapport. ❌ Don't: Ignore Concerns - Address issues and concerns promptly instead of sweeping them under the rug. Ignoring problems can lead to resentment and disengagement within the team. Remember, effective communication is the cornerstone of successful leadership. Building a Team: My Blueprint for Success When it comes to building a team that truly drives business growth, it’s not just about hiring top talent—it’s about creating a cohesive unit that works seamlessly together. Sounds fancy, not easy but doable. I’ve learned that the key to this lies in trust and collaboration, not just individual skills. I first learned about it from leadership expert Simon Sinek in his book ‘Leaders Eat Last’: “Great leaders build great teams. It’s not about hiring the best individuals, but about creating a group that works well together.” Here’s how I approach team building: 1. Start with a Clear Vision and Values I make sure that my vision and values are crystal clear. They are the foundation of everything we do. The individual who comes on board is align to the vision and happy working in the existing environment. 2. Hire for Alignment, Not Just Skills When bringing new people on board, I look beyond the resume. It’s essential that each team member aligns with our core values and is passionate about our mission. Individual comes for growth and learning, money is not the sole driving factor. 3. Create a Trusting Environment I prioritize building an environment where everyone feels safe to share their ideas and challenges. Trust is the cornerstone of any successful team. Encouraging them to make decisions and learn from their mistakes, thus trusting the process 4. Encourage Ongoing Collaboration Regular team-building activities and open communication are key. Collaboration isn’t a one-time event; it’s an ongoing process that I actively cultivate. Team lunches, appreciation sessions and making cross function team collaborate My Checklist for a Strong Team: - Does each team member understand and believe in the vision? - Are they empowered to bring their best to the table? - How can I continuously improve trust and collaboration within the team? I’ve seen firsthand how powerful this approach can be. When you focus on building a team rooted in trust and aligned with your values, the results speak for themselves. If you haven’t already, I encourage you to try this blueprint. Watch how your team evolves and drives your business forward. #TeamBuilding #Leadership #BusinessGrowth #TrustAndCollaboration

But let’s be honest: it’s easier said than done. Maybe you’ve noticed certain team members hesitate to share ideas in meetings. Or perhaps they seem overly reliant on you for decisions. It’s a tricky balance. You want to guide without micromanaging and support without overshadowing. So, how do you build a team that feels confident, trusted, and motivated? Here are five strategies that might spark new ideas for you: 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞 𝐃𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐅𝐞𝐞𝐥? Reflect on this: 𝘋𝘰 𝘮𝘺 𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘮 𝘮𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘶𝘱, 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘰𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘢𝘴? Is your team aligned? (Part II) The importance of being aligned to drive results. As seen in the June edition of The Voice Greater Rockford Chamber of Commerce https://lnkd.in/gYYJSvcq Team Attributes According to Google’s Team Aristotle, there are five attributes of high performing teams. Psychological Safety: Team members feel safe to take risks and be vulnerable in front of each other. Dependability: Team members get things done on time and meet a high bar of excellence. Structure & Clarity: Team members have clear roles, plans, and goals. Meaning: Work is personally important to team members. Impact: Team members think their work matters and creates change. One way to ensure teams perform at a high level and provide psychological safety is for everyone on the strategic leadership team to understand each other’s personality profiles. It is good practice to have personality assessments done for each member and that everyone shares it with each other. This helps to deepen communication and heighten understanding of each individual leadership style and personality. One particular assessment that works well is a DiSC profile. To foster better understanding, an exercise can be done with goals to: 1. Identify your style and explore the priorities that drive you. 2. Discover similarities and differences among the DiSC styles. 3. Find better ways of communicating using DiSC styles. What does DiSC stand for? DiSC breaks personalities down into four categories. D is for Dominance. That is the person that is laser focused on getting things done. Don’t bother me with the details, just make it happen (Start shooting, why are we waiting?). I is for Influence. That is the person that would much rather talk about it before doing it. They are the connectors that are filled with enthusiasm and encouragement. (Let’s have a chat, we can shoot later). S is for Steadiness. These are the people who are patient, predictable, reliable and steady. The calm voice in the room. However, they don’t like to be pushed. (I’ll shoot when I’m good and ready). C is for Compliance. These are the people that are dependent, neat, conservative, and calculating. (Wait, let’s verify that we’ll hit the bullseye exactly in the center). Having teams understand themselves and each other, and how they approach things, help foster better team cooperation. I spoke with a colleague recently, and we began discussing what makes a successful team. His response was straightforward: accomplishing goals. I do not think he was wrong, but there is so much more to what makes a successful team. Many qualities of a successful team must be in place before you can accomplish goals. We're talking about people here, and the complex interactions between human beings must be considered when evaluating the team's success and managing the overall dynamic between people. 1️⃣ Communication: Open and honest communication is not just a requirement, but a cornerstone for any relationship, especially within a large group of people. It's crucial that team members feel comfortable voicing their concerns and know they will be heard and respected. 2️⃣ Trust: The foundation of any team or relationship. If the team members do not trust each other, communication breaks down, and the ability to be frank and honest with each other cannot happen. With trust established, they know their team members have their back and can be called upon to help. More importantly, they know their teammates will not stab them in the back. 3️⃣ Vision: A team needs a clear direction. Without a shared vision, team members may work at cross-purposes, and goals may be overlooked. It's essential to have a common goal that everyone is working towards. 4️⃣ Empowerment: Team members must feel empowered to own their piece of the overall effort. Some work items could require multiple people, while others are accomplished by a single team member. Those small groups or individuals should feel empowered to reach the task requirements without micromanagement from the team leader. Creating a successful team is about more than just having the right people. It's about fostering the right environment by leading by example in these areas. That's the leader's responsibility. Leaders should inspire and guide their team in building open communication, trust, a shared vision, and empowerment. 💡 Communicate openly, honestly, and transparently with your team. 💡 Build trust by defending and supporting your team. 💡 Create a bigger vision than where you and the team are today so everyone has something to reach for. 💡 Empower your team by letting them choose how while you set the who, what, and when. #leadership #management #leadingbyexample #teamwork #teams

Effective 1-to-1s boost team engagement by 40%. Here’s how to maximise them & boost performance. I underestimated how vital 1-to-1 meetings were when I was scaling. A great 1-to-1 goes beyond essential check-ins. It’s an opportunity to connect with your team. Both on a personal and professional level. You get to align goals & support your team’s growth. And we know a team is imperative to a business's scalability. After hosting 100s of 1-to-1s in my career, I discovered this framework. This framework helped build a $5 million leadership team. Here’s the 6-step formula for a powerful 1-to-1. (check out the carousel for a detailed breakdown) 1. Start with the Present. ↳ Begin with a quick check-in to build rapport. 2. Review Goals and Alignment. ↳ Keep the focus on key objectives and company goals. 3. Reflect on Performance. ↳ Acknowledge achievements and discuss areas for improvement. 4. Offer Support. ↳ Ask about workload, stress, and overall well-being. 5. Identify Bottlenecks and Opportunities. ↳ Encourage them to share insights and ideas. 6. Close with Action Items. ↳ Wrap up with clear action steps and follow through. Consistent, meaningful 1-to-1s are a powerful tool for building a thriving team culture. Invest the time now to support your people, and the results will follow. How do you make your 1-to-1s impactful? Share your tips in the comments. ⬇️ ♻️ Repost to share with your network. A Team is much stronger than an individual. Be a good team member
🗒 It's fascinating how great teams can completely transform a workplace. It's like magic when it happens. Think about it – have you ever watched an amazing basketball 🏀 team in action? When they're really in sync, it's beautiful to watch. Every player just knows where their teammates are going to be, and the ball moves like it has a mind of its own. Or picture your favorite band – each musician bringing their own flavor, but somehow creating this incredible sound together. That's exactly what happens in business when teams really click. And the best part? Everyone wins! People grow, they feel good about their work, and the results just flow naturally. Here's a cool tip if you want to supercharge your business: invest in your people, especially your sales and marketing teams. When they level up their skills, not only does your bottom line thank you, but you get this amazing energy in the office. Everyone's pumped to be there. Speaking of energy – let's talk about culture for a second. It's kind of like the personality of your workplace. When you get it right, it's like sunshine – ideas flow, people collaborate easily, and work just feels... lighter. But get it wrong? Even your star players can feel stuck and frustrated. Nobody wants that! Want to know how to build an awesome team? Here are some ideas that really work: 1/ Ever heard of the Tuckman model? It's pretty spot-on about how teams develop. They start out getting to know each other, then hit some bumps, figure things out together, and finally hit their stride. 2/ Then there's this concept called psychological safety – fancy words for something simple: making sure everyone feels OK speaking up, even with crazy ideas. It's like having those late-night conversations with close friends where you can just be yourself. 3/ Situational leadership. Great leaders are like great coaches – they know when to call the plays and when to let the team run with it. It's all about reading the room and giving people what they need to succeed. What do you think? Have you seen any of these principles play out in your workplace? #leadership #teamwork #leadershipmodels
