Here’s a new plan… THE MIGHTY PLAN...from the Orgamites Mighty Education Programme. This is our plan to change behaviour for better organ donation consent rates! England has some of the lowest organ donation consent rates in Western Europe, and simply changing the law doesn’t change people! 🥹 The "opt-out" system has effectively raised public awareness but has failed to significantly change behaviour. A comprehensive education strategy that starts young, reaches wide, and extends to bridge the gap between awareness and behavioural change is critical. Don't you think it's time for a new plan??? Now if you're new to this and don't think Organ Donation affects you - here's some food for thought 🧠 ...or support 🙏 ! The single highest cost to NHS England is dialysis, which amounts to £600 million per year. Dialysis is the life-saving treatment that filters and cleanses the blood when the kidneys can no longer perform this function. This immense cost strains the healthcare system. Increasing kidney donations could drastically reduce these expenses. For instance, transitioning just 5,000 patients from dialysis to transplants could potentially save the NHS between £310 million and £527.5 million over a five-year government term. Now that's a big thought! INTRODUCING THE ORGAMITES🫶 The Orgamites Mighty Education Programme is the only global organ donation and health education programme of its kind. Created specifically with kids aged 5-11 in mind, it uses educational resources, tools, toys, and tech to inspire and equip more students, teachers, and families everywhere to talk more about organ donation, and to take better care of their bodies, each other, and our world. Brought to life by a team of life-saving organs found in each one of us, the Orgamites are also known as the ‘mighty organs’ because they represent the organs most needed for donation and transplantation. In addition to our foundational mission to increase understanding of how their bodies work, organ donation and acts of kindness, the Orgamites Mighty Education Programme simultaneously aims to help address some of the most critical health crises facing the next generation (as identified by the World Health Organisation and other leading health bodies). ‘Young Doctors’ graduate from Perth, Peel and South West Schools! 30 students from Ashburton Drive Public School in Perth and Waroona District High School in the South West recently graduated from the Malpa Young Doctors for Life program. 15 more students from Djidi Djidi Aboriginal School in Peel will graduate in early 2025. The program empowers Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal students aged between nine and 12 to take control of their health and help shape better health outcomes for their families and communities. Over the course of the 15-week program, the students learnt hands-on skills from Aboriginal Elders, doctors and paramedics in health leadership, nutrition, hygiene, and social and emotional well-being. Today’s graduation is the first in Western Australia thanks to Earbus Foundation of Western Australia, a children's charity that works to reduce the incidence of middle ear disease in Aboriginal and at-risk children in WA, who introduced Malpa to the schools in the region. The Malpa program has benefited from $100,000 in support from global charity the Alcoa Foundation, which will assist the Aspen Medical Foundation to continue working with Malpa, which it has done for more than a decade. Aspen Medical Foundation Chair Sian Keys said the graduation is a celebration of the students’ achievement of weeks of work focused on a wide range of health issues, identifying solutions and dreaming of what the future holds. “Because the projects are locally designed and delivered, it is a chance for communities to celebrate their shared achievement and commissioning the Young Doctors to be influencers in their community to bring about better health futures for everyone,” Ms Keys said. #AspenMedical #AspenMedicalFoundation #Malpa #AlcoaFoundation #SocialImpact

🌟 Bridging Cultural Gaps in Medicine 🌟 Highlighting this grant candidate’s achievements aims to generate awareness and drive funding for our KCMS Community Foundation grant, allowing us to assist a greater number of medical students. This grant candidate was inspired by a deeply personal experience when his grandfather, despite having Medicare, couldn't receive timely care due to systemic barriers. Witnessing his family's struggle to advocate for their elder highlighted the deep flaws in our healthcare system. This pivotal moment, along with his work as a COVID vaccinator, revealed the stark healthcare disparities affecting uninsured and immigrant families. 💬 "Seeing patients fall through the cracks of our healthcare system, especially my own grandfather, inspired me to pursue medicine to change these systems from within." Help support medical students like this one on a mission to create a more inclusive and accessible healthcare system. 👉 Donate Today and Empower Future Physicians! https://lnkd.in/gM-adavP #HealthEquity #ElderCare #ImmigrantHealth #CulturalCompetence #HealthcareForAll #SupportFutureDoctors #LatinoHealth #MigrantHealth #GlobalHealthJustice

🌍 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗵𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘀 (𝗜𝗘𝗛𝗣𝘀) 🌍 As Chair of the Oneness Foundation, I’m thrilled to announce our latest initiative: the 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗵𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁! This event will serve as a critical platform dedicated to helping internationally trained healthcare professionals pursue meaningful careers in Canada. Our focus is on supporting underserved regions, especially rural communities that often feel healthcare shortages in ways (sub)urbanites do not. The summit underscores our commitment to a more inclusive and responsive healthcare system. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀: Canada’s healthcare system urgently needs skilled professionals, and IEHPs bring invaluable expertise and experience to meet these demands. However, many IEHPs face substantial challenges in navigating credentialing, language, and employment pathways. The Pathway to Practice Summit is part of our strategy to reduce these barriers, empowering IEHPs to thrive and fulfill their calling in healthcare. 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵: This journey wouldn’t be possible without the advocacy and action of countless supporters. Special thanks to visionary leaders like Ruth Lee at CARE Centre for Internationally Educated Nurses, Dr. Shafi Bhuiyan PhD, MBBS, MPH, MBA, Caroline Ewen, and many others who have been champions for IEHPs. We are also grateful to our many partners and institutions—World Education Services (WES) Canada, N4 - National Newcomer Navigation Network, Touchstone Institute, ACCES Employment, educational institutions, exam prep centers, and government agencies—that work tirelessly to create opportunities for IEHPs across Canada. 𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱: The Oneness Foundation’s new charter will amplify these efforts, maximizing resources and further removing barriers that stand in the way of IEHPs integrating into our healthcare system. We’re dedicated to building a future where internationally trained professionals can seamlessly transition into the Canadian healthcare workforce and offer their skills in areas that need them most. 𝗧𝗼 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆: if you know of individuals, organizations, or resources we should recognize in this ongoing effort, please reach out or tag them in the comments. Your insights are invaluable as we work to ensure this initiative’s inclusivity and impact. Together, let’s build a healthcare community that values and welcomes the global talent of IEHPs, supporting them every step of the way. 💙
We’re excited to launch the Pathway to Practice Summit, a collaborative effort dedicated to empowering Internationally Educated Healthcare Professionals (IEHPs) to fulfill their passion and pursue meaningful careers in healthcare. Special mention for Government of Canada and the provinces for collaborating with other charitable organizations for financial assistance and other solutions also to Scotiabank, TD, BMO which funds many social impact program which empower IEHP. The charter we are developing will build on these achievements, aiming to maximize existing resources and remove any remaining barriers, helping IEHPs transition smoothly into their roles and thrive in the Canadian healthcare system. This initiative is about honoring those who have paved the way while continuing to ensure that IEHPs can contribute fully and productively. We want to take a moment to acknowledge that while we strive to recognize all contributors, we may unintentionally miss mentioning some key players who have significantly impacted this field. Our habits determine our kids’ health! Introducing the NEW five a day - 5 Mighty Habits! It’s the small, often unseen choices that we make, that make the biggest difference in the end. When it comes to our health, this couldn’t be more true. The earlier in life we start forming healthy habits, the greater the chance they’ll stick – and we’ll live longer, healthier, happier lives as a result. Helping you to empower the kids in your classroom to lead healthier lives is our passion and purpose. WHY TEACH KIDS ABOUT HEALTHY HABITS? According to the World Health Organisation, there are several major crises facing the next generation. Most are health-related. Solving them starts with education, and all of us (teachers, healthcare professionals, policy makers, parents and guardians) working together for the good of kids everywhere. Discover the Mighty Education Programme and FREE teacher's resources at Orgamites.com WHO ARE THE ORGAMITES? As the only organ donation and health education programme of its kind, the Orgamites are here to breathe new life into some of the most neglected life and death issues facing the next generation. A team of nine life-saving organs found in each one of us, the Orgamites are also known as the ‘mighty organs’ because they represent the organs most needed for donation and transplantation. Created for kids from the age of 5 to 11, every Orgamites resource aims to close one or more of the major health gaps facing the younger generation (as identified by the World Health Organisation) — inspiring kids everywhere to take better care of their health, each other, and the entire planet too. WHY TEACH CHILDREN ABOUT ORGAN DONATION? Around the world, there’s a critical shortage of life-saving organs, especially for children. In fact, kids tend to wait two and a half times longer than adults. Many die waiting. Only through widespread education and awareness initiatives can we hope to decrease waiting lists and save lives. #Orgtober #Orgamites #OrganDonationEducation #ChildrensHealth #BuildingBlocksOfSociety #MightyOrgans

The Prechtel Smile Foundation is an NGO in third world countries and medically underserved regions such as Central America, Amazonia, North Brazil, India and West Africa. The goals of the medical non-profit projects are to improve and initiate a medical facility in accordance with Robert Koch hygiene guidelines, optimize surgical and medical treatment processes, and set up modern medical rooms in the new German medical center. On site, often only one-off hands-on courses, lectures and intensive scientific exchanges take place on a voluntary non-profit basis. The projects are then to be continued independently by local medical doctors and OP staff. Housing and living conditions, including nutrition, are also taken into account, and these depend on the health situation. Adequate, suitable and medically sensible treatment also depends on this. The expectations and compliance of patients differ considerably from Western standards. Therefore, we only try to provide suggestions for process optimization and medical safety. Raising awareness and collegial exchange alone promotes positive long-term rethinking processes. www. dr-prechtel.de
