BT is advancing towards a digital future, aiming to replace the traditional Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) with a cutting-edge digital infrastructure by 2025. Despite the looming deadline, approximately 88% of UK businesses continue to rely on the outdated PSTN technology. This adherence not only places them at risk of non-compliance with forthcoming regulations but also potentially jeopardises the safety of individuals, particularly those in vulnerable situations. Orestone is at the forefront of addressing this challenge, driven by a commitment to ensure safety and compliance for all. Our focus on the digital transition reflects our dedication to keeping communities and businesses ahead of regulatory changes. Our expertise lies in offering state-of-the-art emergency call solutions designed to replace antiquated copper wire-based analogue systems. Unlike the old technology that limits communication to one call at a time, newer digital-ready call systems facilitate the simultaneous transmission of multiple calls. This not only enhances safety and convenience but also aligns with the future demands of telecommunication. To support a smooth transition for emergency call systems, understanding BT's regional rollout scheme is essential. This phased approach ensures customers across the UK are aware and prepared for the switch to Digital Voice. Following successful pilots in Salisbury and Mildenhall, the rollout is proceeding on a region-by-region basis. The East Midlands, Yorkshire and the Humber, and Northern Ireland were among the first regions contacted, with plans to extend the service across the North West, London, the West Midlands, South East, Wales, East Anglia, North East, Scotland, and South West which started in 2023 and will continue throughout 2024. This staggered rollout aims to maintain communication effectiveness, particularly critical for emergency systems that rely on uninterrupted service. The countdown to the digital switchover is on, with the deadline set for December 31, 2025. Though it might seem distant, it's important to realise that we have just 21 months left until this major transition occurs. BT Group's cut-off point marks the end of an era for analogue systems. Orestone is ready to guide you through this transition, ensuring that your communication systems remain compliant, secure, and efficient. Don't wait until it's too late. Ofcom's latest report on broadband deployment highlights the progress towards achieving 97% gigabit service accessibility for UK homes by 2027. While this is commendable, it won't be enough to keep pace with increasing data consumption. Despite having gigabit access and a revamped mesh WiFi network at home, connecting my work computer via ethernet remains essential for optimal speed. At Predict, we see a consistent monthly increase in mobile data consumption for businesses, averaging 30-40% over a 2-year contract. This trend likely extends to wireless data usage overall. The evolving landscape continues to emphasize the importance of ensuring the availability of reliable and fast connectivity for all network types to meet both consumer and business demand. Ofcom's online mobile checker highlights how mobile is still struggling, particularly in a typical urban setting like mine near St Albans in Herts where O2 is the only one of the four major networks where indoor voice calls are "likely". The other 3 networks report "limited" voice, and all 4 report "limited" indoor data connectivity. Outdoors, it's best described as hit and miss locally. It's rubbish. After 25-years spent in and around the mobile industry, I understand the challenges, but there are no excuses. Come on mobile network operators, you have to do better! #Ofcom #BroadbandDeployment #GigabitService #HighSpeedAccess #MobileDataConsumption #WirelessData #ConnectedNations2024

Today is Telegraph Pole Appreciation Day. Although we might ignore these wherever we see them in the landscape, as a once vital part of communications infrastructure, they are a great reminder of how fast technology evolves. Even the phonelines they carry are changing. The UK’s ISDN and Public Switch Telephone Network (PSTN) is gradually being phased out as part of the ongoing process called the Big Switch Off. If you’re still using these legacy services, your business could already be affected. Those yet to upgrade to a modern telephony solution will find the agility of their business communications severely limited- as you cannot add to or modify these services any longer, they cannot adapt to your needs. Discover what the full implications of the Big Switch Off are for your business, and what you need to do to avoid disruption here: https://buff.ly/4gaWm1C #SCG #SCGTogether #TelegraphPoleAppreciationDay #BigSwitchOff #StopSell #ISDN #Communications #Connectivity #BusinessSolutions
