🌎📝Garlic, scientifically known as Allium sativum, is a perennial plant that belongs to the allium family, which also includes onions, leeks, and shallots. Like many other plants, garlic undergoes a reproductive process known as flowering. During this stage, garlic produces small white flowers that are arranged in umbrella-like clusters called umbels. These flowers typically emerge from the central stalk of the garlic plant. The formation of flowers in garlic is part of its natural reproductive cycle. In the wild, garlic flowers serve the crucial function of attracting pollinators such as bees, butterflies, and other insects. These pollinators aid in the transfer of pollen between flowers, facilitating fertilization and the production of seeds. However, in cultivated garlic varieties, the emphasis is often placed on optimizing bulb development rather than seed production. Garlic bulbs, which are the edible part of the plant, are composed of layers of modified leaves called cloves. These cloves form underground and serve as storage organs for the plant, containing reserves of energy and nutrients that support growth and reproduction. For commercial and culinary purposes, the quality and size of garlic bulbs are of paramount importance. To ensure the production of large, high-quality bulbs, garlic farmers often employ a practice known as "de-flowering." This involves the removal of the garlic flowers before they fully develop. By removing the flowers, growers redirect the plant's energy away from seed production and towards bulb enlargement. This process encourages the garlic plant to allocate more resources towards bulb formation, resulting in larger and more robust bulbs that are favored by consumers and growers alike. I completed the planting journal for vegetables. Added functions specific to recording and accounting for the cultivation of garden crops, for example, such as recording the date of planting in the ground and the date of harvest. The plants themselves are located in a special “Vegetable Garden” tab, which in turn is located on the garden page. They (plants) are sorted by crop name - Onions, arugula, salads and strawberries are each presented in their own group. You can also switch the sorting from the names of vegetables to sorting by the beds in which they grow. By the way, annuals do not necessarily have to be vegetables (and many vegetables are not annuals) - many people successfully plant annual flowers - and they also fall into this tab.
