https://lnkd.in/e-FJE42R The Amount of old software running our companies is huge. And it affects the new software too, as there is an interdependency between the old and new systems. I see this problem every day in my software job. #Software #Legacy #Innovation

There is a difference between preventing software products from going to production because they haven't not undergone review versus preventing them from going out with known findings.. I fully support the first one... I support the second in certain conditions.. Software security isn't about slowing down releases, its about improving engineering products and the quality of the products which get released. #applicationsecurity #softwaresecurity #softwareengineering

“This required maintenance could be a hard sell for some businesses which may be willing to spend on building new technical capabilities, but shy away from paying for work that doesn’t necessarily bring them anything new.” As a project manager who has shipped many software releases, I cannot agree more with the points presented in this article. Resolving technical debts is most often relegated to the bottom priority when it comes to release planning and backlog prioritization, and therefore is always the first item to be left out of a ballooning release scope, simply because it does not introduce any new feature. Until that attitude and short-sighted viewpoint is changed, the debt will continue compounding and increase the risk of a major crisis that can bring down the whole system. #softwaredevelopment #technicaldebt #softwareengineering
