Agriculture isn't just about farming. It is about nourishing communities, driving economic growth, and stewarding our planet's resources sustainably. Harnessing the full potential of agriculture can address pressing continental challenges such as food security, climate change, and rural development. At CALA we understand that the transformation of agriculture in the continent requires visionary leaders who can mobilize real change and ensure delivery of country priorities. We work with leaders in Africa’s Food Systems and support them to continue spearheading agricultural transformation. By mobilizing local systems, we can unlock collective wisdom and pave the way for a more resilient and sustainable future. Calls for the next cohort will be live in April 2024. We hereby offer you one of only ten delegate positions available for Nigeria' Welcome to the The Centre for African Leaders in Agriculture (CALA) Advanced Leadership Programme, an AGRA led initiative. We are excited to welcome you to the programme! These were the first lines of the email that ushered us into CALA in July 2022. Team Sage (5 of 10 Nigerian delegates) – that's us! – embarked on a truly transformative journey with the The Centre for African Leaders in Agriculture (CALA) through their Advanced Leadership Programme. This was not your typical classroom setting; CALA offered a dynamic, collaborative experience tailored for leaders like us actively implementing agricultural initiatives across the continent. The program was a vibrant mix of virtual and in-person learning events. We honed our leadership skills through practical exercises and discussions, but the real power came with the Action Learning Projects. These projects were not just theoretical, they tackled real-world challenges we faced in our own countries. With CALA's guidance, we received in-country coaching and participated in regular peer accountability sessions. It was a constant push and pull, refining our approaches and driving impactful results – all while building a solid network of inspiring cohorts across Africa. Sharing best practices and forging lifelong friendships with these fellow changemakers became invaluable resources as we navigated the complexities of African agriculture. Beyond the skills and connections, CALA provided unparalleled recognition. Graduates like us are positioned as delivery champions, granting access to prestigious AGRA platforms and events. This recognition has opened doors and also amplified our voices, empowering us to advocate for impactful agricultural policies. Our ALP project focused on the levels of export rejects we experienced in the Sesame seed sector. During the program, we developed the framework and tested the pilot successfully; now, we are poised to share this information with other relevant stakeholders because the issues of export rejection require a collaborative effort. The CALA Advanced Leadership Programme is an investment that continues to pay dividends. It is a springboard for leaders passionate about making a tangible difference in Africa's food systems. The Cohort 4 is now open for application

GoGettaz Africa Leadership Program Completed! Join us in celebrating the 13 champions who successfully completed the GoGettaz Agripreneur Leadership Program! These incredible agripreneurs have completed a transformative journey, gaining valuable insights and skills to elevate their businesses and drive food systems change across #Africa. The GoGettaz Africa Leadership Program equipped Africa’s most promising agripreneurs with tangible skills and empowered them to grow their businesses. They received personalized leadership development and individual attention in small group settings over a six-month journey. The program was designed to empower and equip these emerging leaders with the skills, knowledge, and network needed to drive positive change across food systems in Africa. As champions for sustainable agriculture and innovation, they are set to make a lasting impact on the continent’s agrifood sector… I'd like to give credit to my coach Caroline de La Maisonneuve who spared no effort to ensure my success in this program. Personally, I've already taken several leadership programs, in Benin, Africa and Europe, but this one is particularly interesting and different. I started this journey with my company Crystal Agri Business - CAB SARL and then joined a government agency (ADPME BENIN). My schedule was turned upside down from then on. But I was resilient because I was seduced by the impact of the program. As I said to my comrades at the last session, we're now on the elevator going to the stars… Let’s continue this incredible journey for #Agriculture and #FoodSystems. Thanks AFS Forum for having us in Kigali, #Rwanda. Young people have the power and potential to change the face of agriculture. Let’s make it real.
