May is National Beef Month, a time to honor and celebrate the hard work and dedication of the ranchers who work day in and day out to sustainably produce high-quality beef while stewarding the land and caring for their animals. With them, our work at Open Range Beef is possible. We are proud of our brand, Raise American, which offers delicious and nutritious beef sourced directly from American family farmers who prioritize pasture-raising. By choosing Raise American Beef, you embark on a farm-to-table journey that promises a unique blend of freshness and flavor. Our purchase of Spring Lake Ranch, located in the center of the Nebraska Sandhills region, was aimed at demonstrating that it is possible to produce incredibly delicious and tender beef that can compete with any other type of beef while maintaining an organic, pasture-based, and 100% grass-fed approach. Known as the "Napa of Grass," the Sandhills is the largest intact grassland in the world and is ideal for raising cattle out on pasture. Let's continue to support sustainable agriculture this May. Cheers to a month filled with appreciation and mouthwatering beef experiences! ...and to wrap up, a little factoid about The Sandhills. 😎 #beef #agriculture #regenerativeag #cattle Source: Nebraska Department of Agriculture

What’s better than a Bowen mango in summer? Or sweet macadamias from Bundaberg, creamy bananas from the Cassowary Coast, and fresh beef from Rockhampton? Pineapples from Moreton Bay, and those famous Moreton Bay bugs, aren’t so bad either… 🌾 Today, on National Ag Day, we are celebrating the heart and soul of Queensland’s agriculture sector—the growers, farmers, and producers who are the backbone of our economy and communities. With a forecast production value of $23.56 billion for 2024-2025, Queensland agriculture powers so much of what we eat and enjoy every day. Here’s a look at some of Queensland’s major contributions in 2022-23: 96% of Australia’s sugarcane 🌱 67% of sorghum 🌾 94% of bananas 🍌 70% of macadamias 🌰 65% of avocados 🥑 50% of mandarins 🍊 48% of the nation’s cattle herd 🐄 …and so much more! Many of our local leaders run agricultural businesses too, so they understand firsthand the pride and challenges of this essential industry. What’s your favourite Queensland produce, and where’s it from? At Harvest to Gather, we're dedicated to using holistic management to achieve regenerative outcomes on the land we manage. This allows us to produce regenerative food including Ontario beef and pastured poultry—a seasonal product that's available through VG Meats in Simcoe and Stoney Creek. We raise chickens on pasture for a few reasons: the exceptional taste and tenderness, and because producing poultry this way has a positive impact on the environment around us. You see, chickens are great at pecking and agitating the ground as they eat—essentially providing irrigation—and their manure makes excellent natural fertilizer for the pasture. Once the chickens have been moved to new grass, we wait for a period of time and then move cattle onto those fields so the cows can reap the benefits (lush, thick green grass for grazing). It all comes together in one planned grazing strategy—please visit our website or contact us to learn more, or visit https://vgfarmtocity.ca/ to order some pastured chicken now. #simcoeontario #stoneycreek #hamont #holisticmanagement #regenerativefood

📸 In the photo, we see boxes of mushrooms with quality that leaves much to be desired. The mushrooms have a gray tint, rough surface, and flat caps. Additionally, improper calibration in the boxes is noticeable. ❓ The causes of such defects can be various. A gray tint often results from improper watering and prolonged exposure to a humid environment. In winter, this can also be due to a large amount of dry air entering the chamber from outside. 🔍 Roughness and flat caps indicate excessively dry conditions in the chamber or excessive ventilation, leading to significant evaporation from the mushroom surfaces. A lack of water in the peat also plays a significant role, especially for first wave mushrooms. ⚠️ These problems are often encountered on many farms. If you want to avoid such situations and improve the quality of your products, I am ready to offer my consultation. Experience and knowledge of all the nuances of mushroom cultivation will help you achieve better results. 📞 Contact us for detailed consultation and to improve the processes on your farm! #UMDIS #mushrooms #champignons #farm #agriconsulting #productquality

🌱 A Sweet Surprise: Lessons from a Simple Effort. A few months ago, while I was tending to my sack tomatoes, my first daughter decided to plant a single sweet potato vine in a sack. Today, we harvested it—and the results amazed us! The size of the potatoes was far bigger than those planted directly in the soil. The camera couldn’t capture the true size of the harvest, but the experience taught us some valuable lessons. Why? Sweet potatoes thrive in loose, well-aerated soil, which sacks naturally provide. The sack ensures optimal drainage and allows the roots to spread freely without obstruction, resulting in bigger, healthier tubers. This simple innovation showcases the power of creativity in agriculture. For me, trying new things is a way of life, and I’m thrilled that my daughter is learning to embrace it too. This small experiment is not just about food—it’s about growth, resilience, and discovering joy in nature. I find immense satisfaction eating from my garden. Sack farming is proof that you don’t need large land to grow food; just a little space, effort, and patience can yield remarkable results. Let’s embrace nature, try new things, and reap the rewards. Who knows what surprises await? #SackFarming #UrbanGardening #FoodSecurity #Sustainability #LifeLessons #NatureLover
