🌍 Today is #WorldSoilDay, a reminder of the critical role healthy soils play in supporting #FoodProduction, mitigating #ClimateChange, and sustaining #ecosystems. A single teaspoon of healthy soil can contain more microorganisms than there are people on Earth—over 7 billion! This microscopic life includes bacteria, fungi, protozoa, and other tiny organisms. This hidden ecosystem drives critical processes like nutrient cycling and carbon storage, making soil an unsung hero in global biodiversity and ecosystem health.    Regenerative agriculture offers a powerful solution to improve and restore soil health. Practices like cover cropping, reduced tillage, and crop rotation help rebuild soil structure, boost biodiversity, and ensure long-term sustainability.    But how do we measure the impact of regenerative practices on #soilhealth? Through a collaborative initiative to drive business alignment, WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable Development and OP2B aligned 35+ companies on converged #RegenerativeAgriculture outcomes and metrics. This groundbreaking collaboration involves over 1,100 businesses working together to consolidate how we measure regenerative agriculture outcomes, including improved soil health. By aligning on key #metrics, such as soil organic carbon, businesses are setting the stage for a more resilient and sustainable #agricultural system. https://lnkd.in/dsmUQCp4   📊 But the work doesn’t stop with #soil.
