Data is power! “Benchmark data with simple tests, like AMH, is a smart and empowering option,” says Dr. Hintzsche. “When you can gather data and be proactive in your fertility journey in advance, it can help you make the best, most informed decisions for yourself and your future children.” It's important to note that your AMH level is just *one data point* and that decisions shouldn’t be based solely on one test. The more data you have about your body, the better!

ReproUnion highlighted by Euronews in Smart Regions season VII 👇 🌍The project was selected for it's high added value for European citizens and for the planet and highlight the bi-national "ReproUnion Biobank and Infertility Cohort” - RUBIC, where data from both questionnaires and biological samples are collected from couples in need of infertility treatment. The cohort is really unique and one of its kind as: - samples are collected from couples, both from the man and the woman, in need for infertility treatment - couples from two countries are included In addition the cohort has reached a critical mass of data, as more than 1400 infertile couples from Sweden and Denmark are enrolled. This means that researchers within ReproUnion can start to analyze and work with data to better understand some of the questions related to the causes and problems with infertility for both the man, the woman and the couple. The goal of the current project period 2023-2026 is to use the triple helix collaboration between academia Lund University, Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen, Malmö University, LU Holding hospitals Region Hovedstaden, Region Skåne and industry Ferring Pharmaceuticals to create innovative solutions such as new diagnostic tools to better predict infertility, preventative actions and solutions as well as new specialized treatments within reproductive health. Thanks to all our collaborators amongst Jens Sønksen, Anja Pinborg, Aleksander Giwercman, Lærke Priskorn, Niels Jørgensen, Anders Juul, Sandra Søgaard Tøttenborg, Eva Elmerstig, Eva Hoffmann, Kelle Moley, Trine Winterø and special thanks to Professor Johan Malm and Clinical Professor Henriette Svarre Nielsen for your valuable contribution to the Euronews production. https://lnkd.in/g5ACZW73

As the Project lead for ReproUnion I am hoping for a brighter future! Did you know that infertility is a disease? 1/3 has a female cause 1/3 has a male cause 1/3 is still unknown There also seem to be a correlation between infertility in men and the risk for later development of cardiovascular disease. In ReproUnion Biobank and Infertility Cohort - RUBIC we work with the collection of samples such as blood, urine, microbiome swaps, hair, and tissue from couples with infertility, it is all stored in a Biobank. With the samples in the BioBank the researchers in the ReproUnion collaboration hope to understand the causes of infertility better and we aim to create more patient centered care for infertile patients by development of targeted interventions that improve both prevention and treatment of infertility. The project was highlighted by Euronews in Smart Regions season VII selected between more than 100 EU funded projects 🙏 #overgransen

SpermQT, combined with the total motile count, provides a more accurate assessment of IUI success than the standard semen analysis alone. Physicians can use the traditional semen analysis and SpermQT in conjunction to have a more complete view of fertility. As a woman, a medical doctor and a potential consumer of femtech products, I really enjoyed the insights and learning from this session with reproductive health experts, organised by BCG X. There was a very interesting discussion on why we are decades behind when it comes to research on women’s reproductive health. Some factors include: - Up until 1993 women were not able to participate in clinical trials in the US and were merely treated as “smaller versions of men”. - There is less data on the reproductive health of individuals from ethnic minorities, who are more likely to seek help for infertility at more advanced ages (which may influence their outcomes and success rates negatively). More work needs to be done to reduce the stigma for seeking help, particularly for marginalised groups. Luckily, Hertility, Doveras and Allara work on this in their research and clinical product development, e.g. Nara Lee explained that the data collected by Doveras closely resembles US patient demographics. - Women are being treated as second class citizens when it comes to research funding. - It is difficult to get men to engage in fertility research however it is important that they participate and unfortunately there can be a focus on the biological and lifestyle factors related to the female trying to conceive when the male also contributes. It is also difficult to get men to comply with recommendations to make behavioural and lifestyle changes to improve their fertility (the caveat to this is that if men are shown hard data from research, they are more likely to comply). - There is less emphasis on the crucial link between mental health and menstrual health, which Dr Helen O'Neill termed “the elephant in the womb” 😂 At present there is a 20-year high for maternal mortality, when it should be the opposite! However, telemedicine has brought some improvements for reproductive health and fertility care by removing some of the stigma in seeking help for infertility and patients are more likely to answer sensitive questions truthfully if completing forms themselves at home compared to when answering a clinician’s questions. The experts spoke about the importance of tailoring the lifestyle advice and recommendations given to an individual to their circumstances for it to be sustainable and successful and Molly McGrath provided an example from Allara's work with women with PCOS. During the Q&A the panel debunked some common myths around men’s fertility and answered interesting questions such as: Can women who are planning to try to conceive in the future (and want to get an idea of their baseline fertility) undertake fertility testing whilst taking hormonal contraception or would this affect results? Does race affect fertility? Is there any advantage to attending a fertility clinic for testing compared to taking an at-home fertility test? This was a very worthwhile session and I hope we get to see more of this.
LAST CHANCE to join 🚨 Hertility Founder & CEO Dr Helen O'Neill is joining the expert panel on BCG X's upcoming InnovateHer webinar tonight. ✨ Alongside Doveras' Nara Lee and Allara's Molly McGrath, Helen will be exploring how new personalised methods can evolve traditional approaches to fertility. Only a few spaces left. Register your FREE spot on the webinar here 👉 https://bit.ly/3xflRxa
