Latest DM's w/Bill Petersen, CEO of Paramount Media Bill Petersen - What are you working on at your end...? :D 😀 David Stamps - Hi, Bill Executive Contributor for BRAINZ MAGAZINE | Award-winning Writer/Producer in New Media Here’s what I’m working on now. I’m creating a [...] screenplay version of The Black Bullet Dichotomy Aka the BBD~ W/ the goal of submitting the choreopoem/screenplay to the PAGE and NICHOLL FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM~ In my latest rewrite for the screenplay version of the BBD*, I used the story of the Egyptian God, Seshat and Thoth, to create a full transformational journey for the Poetess, and raise the stakes on both her abilities (now she’s more like a superhero) -and her skin-in-the-game element- The Poetess must get the Heckler to take on his Messianic state to bring the Word to man [because now The Beloved Shopkeeper is Thoth and when the Heckler accidentally shoots and kills him] to save her unborn son’s father, Jumari. Who is still alive in this version- Allow me to explain. In the latest version of the BBD, I was more focused on the Transformational Journey for the Heckler, which accounts for the “feel good” sensation you enjoy at the end. Like “Groundhog’s Day” with Bill Murray or “Forrest Gump” with Tom Hanks, the reason we watch these amazing films repeatedly, as you well know, is to go on the satisfying emotional journey repeatedly. Both Dominant-culture characters were more of placeholders than actual characters. Now that I have discovered the “theme.” SPIRITUALITY vs. STOICISM, I've found the Dramatic Question Aka the DQ for the SUBPLOT of these two characters- OFFICER STOICK, a 50-something Johnny Appleseed Alpha male- PORCIA CATO, based on actual Stoic female-icon, the second wife of Brutus, and her obsession with philosophy. THE AMAZING OPPORTUNITY knowing how to DO AN INCREDIBLE REWRITE affords me~ The DQ the new subplot poses,” If someone must die when an emotionally dysregulated Dominant-culture man with a gun (cop) encounters an emotionally dysregulated Black man (Marine sharpshooter with CPTSD) protecting his family, who should it be?” The Most Frequent Broadway ticket buyer, the white college-educated female from [approximately] 36-66 would love to see an abandonment of the Stoic philosophy [where feminism is frowned upon in certain instances] ...[...] Of course, the new screenplay version will be the blueprint for the live-immersive experience thar will be produced on Broadway and the West End and cloned globally. So, that’s what I’m up to~ David Stamps REPOST (to my network) Dream Bay is making all the right moves! Diversity, inclusivity and well-qualified... now that's a good l👀k... Thomas A. Drachkovitch Excited to officially welcome Tiana to the team! [link not provided] Today Bill Petersen Awesome... thanks for the update. :D

Can you relate? Sidney Poitier is a legend, one of the finest actors who ever graced the stage or screen. There's a reason for that. He didn't "pretend." He pulled from the emotions of his own experiences and delivered believable and relatable performances. Sidney connected with us. Taken from 'The Measure of a Man, A Spiritual Autobiography,' Sidney Poitier. "Living consciously involves being genuine; it involves listening and responding to others honestly and openly; it involves being in the moment. This is all equally true of effective acting. 'Acting isn’t a game of pretend. It’s an exercise in being real.'" I once saw an actress interviewed after a heartbreaking performance of her character losing a child. 💔 The scene was difficult to watch, yet impossible to pull away from. It was raw and very real. She said she knew in her heart that she'd only be able to do one take. After filming the scene, it took hours for her to get "out of character" and stop sobbing. 😭 She fully invested herself in honoring those who had been through what her character was experiencing. To do that, she had to relive the pain of her losses. She wasn't pretending. She shared a piece of herself with the audience. As Sidney so eloquently stated, "I finally discovered that there’s no difference between actor and audience; neither is a stranger to the experiences of life." Indeed, acting isn’t pretending. It's about honoring others by daring to be intimate and real. 🙌 Have you considered adding the value of voiceover to your marketing and advertising campaigns? How about your website? I can help you with that! 🎙 Always at your service! 🙏 #sincerity #voiceover #marketing #voiceoverartist #advertisingandmarketing

By now, it might be already old news that Anna Sawai was the first Japanese to win best actress in the 2024 Emmys, so let's not talk about her great acting, or how the level of details has made the first novel of James Clavell's Asian Saga to not only put my anxiety for the show away, but completely super duper exceed expectations on the delivery...okok, let's talk about it. After watching the show, I would recommend it to every person who works in environments where Japanese and Western cultures mix and work together. Where "East meets West", as Hiroyuki Sanada describes the show, Shogun gives a refreshing epiphany of how each character thinks of the other as the fool, and as the clever one for themselves. Once everyone overcomes the uncomfortableness of the differences, they understand that applying these differences smartly they become stronger. In the workplace, the usual characteristic brought up about Japanese is that they work very slow and are too conservative, while these ones complain that western culture is careless and rude. Everyone thinks they do it better...truth is, the quicker everyone overcomes the uncomfortableness of the differences, the quicker the differences can be applied smartly, and become stronger. Being one or the other doesn't seem to be right or wrong anymore, just 50 shades of difference, adaptable for greatness. Anna Sawai's amazing acting is the result of her efforts, not only to walk in kimono or fight with the naginata (long blade), but also calligraphy in Hosokawa Gracias' writing, whose Toda Mariko's character is based on; no one would notice but greatness IS about the details! Mariko-sama was just my favorite in the story, cleverly shifting from submissive to fierce, keeping silent but always alert, understanding both cultures and adapting the realities for the benefit of all, not seen and yet seeing it all. An in-powered inspirational woman.

This week's #wednesdaywisdom from Mary McDonald-Lewis needs no introduction: "I fiercely believe that you must recognize how tender this work is, and the power that you hold to witness the growth or collude in the destruction of the souls that are in your care. And that's a holy, holy thing." By "this work," Mary means voice and accent work. Consider this: Your voice is a crucial part of who you are. It tells your story - where you come from, who you grew up around, how you identify, etc. That includes your accent or dialect as well. When someone makes a negative comment about another person's voice or accent, they could unknowingly be insulting that person's core self. And so, voice and speech teachers and coaches, such as Mary and me, must recognize that we are holding something very delicate in our hands when we engage with them. It is our duty to facilitate you on YOUR vocal journey, not impose our expectations and standards onto you. I would love to hear your stories. Have you had a negative experience with a coach before? Hopefully only positive ones! Feel free to share your stories with me below. Here's what Niecy Nash-Betts did *wrong in her Emmy acceptance speech... NOTHING. She did absolutely nothing wrong. She won for Best Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series for her role as Glenda Cleveland in the Netflix series “Dahmer.” And her acceptance speech is a masterclass in self-love, authenticity, social awareness, and relatability. 🌟 Authenticity: "I’m a winner, baby! Thank you, Ryan Murphy, for seeing me. Evan Peters, I love you. Netflix. Every single person who voted for me, thank you. And my better half, who picked me up when I was gutted from this work, thank you." ❤️ Self-love: “And you know who I want to thank? I want to thank me. For believing in me and doing what they said I could not do. And I want to say to myself, in front of all you beautiful people, ‘go on girl wit’ yo bad self!’ You did that!" ⚖ Social awareness: "Finally, I accept this award on behalf of every Black and brown woman who has gone unheard yet over-policed, like Glenda Cleveland, like Sandra Bland, like Breonna Taylor. As an artist, my job is to speak truth to power and baby, I’m gon’ do it till the day I die." 😁 Relatability: "Momma, I won!” Mrs. Nash-Betts kept it concise, sweet, and meaningful. Take note as you prepare for your next keynote. Scroll to the 2:30 mark! #publicspeaking #speechwriting
