🌟 Join Us at AcademyHealth’s Annual Research Meeting in Baltimore! 🌟 We’re excited to invite you to check out Onpoint’s poster session at the upcoming AcademyHealth Annual Research Meeting! 📍 Poster: Developing Adjustment Factors for Primary Care Investment Payments 🧑 Presenter: Alex Ma, Onpoint Senior Health Data Analyst 📅 Date: Monday, July 1, during Poster Session D ⏰ Time: 5:00-6:15pm ET Onpoint supported a recent primary care initiative in California by developing adjustment factors to ensure capitation payments are fairly distributed based on patient age, gender, and health status, using a multi-variate regression model. Our poster will showcase Onpoint’s method for calculating adjustment factors as well as sample calculations for capitation payments using base payment rates based on differential population needs. This method aims to facilitate fair primary care investment and support the transition to value-based payments by providing larger payments for higher-risk patients. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn about innovations in payment and delivery systems and how we’re working to improve primary care investment. We look forward to seeing you there! #AcademyHealthARM #HealthcareInnovation #PrimaryCare #ValueBasedCare #OnpointHealthData #HealthcareAnalytics #PaymentSystems

⭐ 🗣️ Mark your calendars! Join us on August 28th, 2024, at the Laurie Hendren Symposium on Patient-in-the-Loop Data! It was Laurie Hendren’s vision that all patients in Quebec will have immediate access to all of their health data. The Opal Health Informatics Group and the Quebec SmartCare Consortium have been working on achieving this vision but there is much work still to be done. This symposium will bring together international and local experts on sharing data with patients to discuss how we can achieve Laurie’s vision. We will explore the concept of “patient-in-the-loop” data, which we define as clinical data that are shared with the patient just as they are with the other members of the patient’s care team. More details coming soon #PatientInTheLoopData #HealthDataAccess #PatientCare #LauriesVision

I had the immense privilege of being invited to the RAND Health Care Symposium on Building Data Capacity to Advance Health Equity for Patient-Centered Outcomes Research in Washington, DC where I presented our work, “Expanding the OMOP CDM to Support Health Equity Research”. Unfortunately, my co-author, Atif Adam, Ph.D., MD, MPH, was unable to attend, but I want to thank him for the support and feedback he provided over the countless practice sessions. As much as I love talking about the work I do in the OHDSI community, I still get a little nervous when presenting to an audience. These practice sessions helped build my confidence for a much smoother presentation. Key messages and takeaways include: o Disaggregating race values leads to valuable insights which are masked when these attributes are aggregated into less granular terms. o Linking healthcare and non-healthcare datasets is very difficult for children at-risk for being placed outside their home. How do we facilitate better linkage to enable higher quality longitudinal research for one the most vulnerable groups? o It is very important to include the patient perspective in every step of the research process from recording information which describe a person’s demographic information through the standardization of data elements, reporting of research results, publishing papers, and disseminating information. The day before the symposium I walked from the Lincoln Memorial to the U.S. Capitol. Lincoln made some giant steps in equity, but we have stalled and have even gone backwards at times. As I often say, there’s only one direction in life and that is forward. Join me in moving health equity research forward by supporting the expansion of data capacity to house disaggregated data; link datasets for a more holistic view of a person; and enable more robust patient-centered outcomes research “to collaboratively generate the evidence that promotes better health decisions and better care” (OHDSI’s mission statement). Data should be FAIR and evidence should be FAIRR = findable, accessible, interoperable, reusable, and reproducible Yes, I modified the FAIR acronym specifically for evidence 😊 #PCOR #HealthEquity #RWD #RWE #HealthResearch #DataAnalytics RAND Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation - HHS OHDSI EPAM Systems

Leveraging Data and Reporting to Drive Healthcare Improvements 📊 In the world of Public healthcare, every data point tells a story. My work revolves around analyzing health data, supporting monitoring and evaluation (M&E) activities, and drafting both qualitative and quantitative reports that shape impactful healthcare initiatives. Recent efforts I’ve been part of include: ✅ Monitoring disease trends to support targeted healthcare interventions and improve resource allocation. ✅ Evaluating the reach and impact of community health worker sessions in Chaghi district. ✅ Tracking service utilization trends in mobile health units and fixed health facilities with a focus on maternal, neonatal, and child health (MNCH) services. ✅ Highlighting the real-life impact of healthcare interventions by identifying and writing success stories based on meaningful patient outcomes. Every report and dataset reflects my dedication to enhancing healthcare access in underserved communities. I take great pride in contributing to a cause that has a far-reaching impact—improving healthcare for those in need and making a meaningful difference in their lives. Being part of an organization focused on providing free healthcare services to remote and underserved areas is something I deeply cherish and am truly passionate about. 💡 If you're passionate about health data analysis or community health, I’d love to connect and exchange insights! #PublicHealth #HealthData #MNCH #MonitoringAndEvaluation #SuccessStories
