https://lnkd.in/dhU9s2Gm God, Teacher, Nation and the Importance of Transcendental Jurisdiction to Quran Abstract: We try to elaborate on the importance of transcendental jurisdiction to the Quran to determine the hermeneutics and the language of the Quran. Without such jurisdiction, a vague gap of darkness implying the spiritual realm of ignorance rises in the Islamic nations which causes chaos and distractions. We also try to resolve the linguistics of the resurrection of the teacher in the Quran and answer the allegory of David in the Quran and the question of the existence of Israel prophesized by a philosophical question in Quran and determine the platonic state of ignorance caused in Islamic nations by unawareness of the transcendental truth and hermeneutics within Quran.

Reason and Revelation in Islam: Ibn Taymiyya's Dar' al-Ta'ārud al-'Aql wa al-Naql (Averting the Conflict between the Intellect and Scripture) A long overdue study of a key text in Islamic thought has now been published and is available on open access by the Leiden-based Brill (since 2020). Ibn Taymiyya's classic voluminous work, Dar' al-Ta'ārud al-'Aql wa al-Naql was meant as a refutation of the Ash'arite stand on the issue of reason vs revelation. The Ash'arites argued that in the event of an "apparent" conflict between the two, reason should prevail in the sense that scripture must be reinterpreted in a way that makes sense rationally ("apparent" conflict because no mainstream Islamic school accept that there can be any real conflct: as Ibn Rushd asserted, truth cannot contradict truth). Specifically, Ibn Taymiyya sought to rebut the theologian and polymath, Fakhr al--Din al-Razi who penned his book, Asas al-Taqdis (Foundations of the Sacred) which represents the classic Ash'arite position, for which Razi even elevated as the "universal rule" (al-qanun al-kulli) which should be followed "in all equivocal matters". This study originates as the author, Carl Sharif El-Tobgui's PhD dissertation at Columbia University, US, under the supervision of Wael Hallaq. To recall, Hallaq himself authored a study on an abridgement by Jalal al-Din Suyuti of Ibn Taymiyya's al-Radd 'ala al-Mantiqiyyin (Refutation of the Logicians). Hallaq's book is entitled Ibn Taymiyya against the Greek Logicians. Valuable contributions to the advancement of Islamic scholarship.

I'm excited to share that my latest academic work has been published in the International Journal of Literary Humanities. The article, titled "In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate": Rewriting Literary Conventions and Reclaiming Islamic Identity in The Life of Omar ibn Said (1831), explores how this 19th century autobiographical slave narrative challenges Eurocentric literary traditions and powerfully asserts the author's Islamic faith and identity. The Life of Omar ibn Said provides a rare firsthand account of the African Muslim experience of slavery and displacement in the antebellum American South. Through close textual analysis, my article examines how the narrator strategically incorporates Islamic religious language, imagery, and themes to resist the dominant narrative of Christian conversion that was expected of slave autobiographies at the time. This study contributes to ongoing scholarly conversations about the role of religion, language, and cultural identity in shaping slave narratives and other marginalized literary forms. I'm proud to share these insights and hope the article sparks further exploration of this important work and the lived experiences it represents. https://lnkd.in/dc2j5EEZ

The Incoherence of the Philosophers | Al-Ghazali'sTakedown of Al-Farabi and Avicenna | Epi-2/2 In this episode of "The Incoherence of the Philosophers | Al-Ghazali'sTakedown of Al-Farabi and Avicenna | Epi-2/2" we examine al-Ghazali's critique of the philosophers, specifically targeting Al-Farabi and Avicenna, who were key proponents of Aristotelian thought in Islamic philosophy. Through his work, "Tahafut al-Falasifa" (The Incoherence of the Philosophers), al-Ghazali meticulously examines their ideas on emanation, the soul, and epistemology. His primary focus is on Avicenna's concepts, such as the triadic emanative scheme and the nature of divine knowledge. Al-Ghazali's analysis reveals the philosophical and theological debates of medieval Islam, highlighting the clash between reason and revelation. #philosophy #islamicphilosophy #religion #history #alghazali #alfarabi #avecinna #bookreview #islamic https://lnkd.in/gJCs5-6z

tkbnewtestament.org The Kingdom Bible The Kingdom Bible—New Testament, This translation highlights understanding prophecies as focused on events that took place and were fulfilled in the first century, especially in the time of Jerusalem’s destruction in A.D. 70. This edition follows every book and letter with summaries and analysis of sections that provide historical and cultural background to facilitate the study of the scriptures and enhance the reader’s understanding. Kashian’s approach would help the readers see events described in the Scripture as a covenant story, which matters in the present and in the past generations. Out of dedication to detail, Kashian involves expert scholars who have researched ancient languages to translate them better. This work is intended for the interested reader who wants to look at scripture through a ‘fulfilled’ perspective and use this to create faith and further knowledge.
