💪#Responsibilities Make You Stronger 💪 During my #internship at #IISc_Bangalore, I received the prestigious #Mitacs_Scholarship 🏅 and an opportunity to do a #summer research internship at #Dalhousie University, Halifax, Canada 🇨🇦. With excitement, we(students from other #IITs, #NITs, #IISERs and various Indian Institutes)applied for our #Canadian #visas in February 2024 and booked our flights for mid-May. However, as the days passed—60 in total—the visa #approval didn’t come through 😟. With #flights booked and time running out, uncertainty crept in. Many students from across India also faced similar delays, and it became clear that we needed to take action. The costs were high—1.6 lakh INR in total—and being from a rural farming #family, this was a huge responsibility on my #shoulders. Then, I learned that Dr. S. Jaishankar was coming to IISc for a talk. Despite my nerves, I saw an #opportunity to raise this issue directly with him. Standing in front of such an esteemed figure, I voiced our collective #concern. It wasn’t just about me but about all the students waiting for their #dreams to take flight ✈️. Here are a few #lessons I took away from this #experience: 1️⃣ Taking #Initiative Pays Off: Waiting passively might have cost us our dreams; instead, we acted. 2️⃣ Responsibility Builds #Strength: When the stakes are high, stepping up is the only way forward. 3️⃣ Facing Your #Fears Opens Doors: Speaking up in front of leaders is daunting, but worth it. 💡 Watch the clip below of my interaction with Dr. S. It taught me that life's essence lies not in the pursuit of happiness, but in the quest for meaning. Amidst my exploration of this captivating philosophy, I stumbled upon a quote that resonated deeply: "Good luck, going through this life is the first time for all of us anyway." This quote incessantly circled my thoughts, reshaping my interpretation of the concept. It gave me the freedom to embrace mistakes, seize opportunities, and venture into uncharted territories. Ultimately, it evolved into a wellspring of resilience and motivation during moments of uncertainty. Understanding that this life marks our inaugural journey, replete with daily discoveries and inevitable missteps, I've learned the importance of resilience—of dusting ourselves off and persisting on the path toward discovering our Ikigai. As I embark on a new chapter with Aditya Birla Capital, I am exhilarated by the prospect of exploration, learning, and leveraging my skills to effect positive change.
