OncoRes Medical’s Post

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month 🎗💗 Did you know? ▶︎ 20,973 Australians are expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer in 2024.    ▶︎ 1 in 7 Australian women will face a breast cancer diagnosis in their lifetime.  ▶︎ While these statistics are concerning, there is hope - 89 out of every 100 women diagnosed with invasive breast cancer now survive five or more years beyond diagnosis. This October, OncoRes Medical joins the global community in recognising Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We stand in solidarity with all those whose lives have been touched by breast cancer.    We believe in the power of innovation to transform healthcare. That's why we're actively developing technologies with the aim of creating a brighter future for individuals facing breast cancer. #OncoRes #breastcancerresearch #womenshealth #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth

Can someone please tell me why the statistics I've been seeing quoted lately, about breast cancer survival, seem vague after 5yrs e.g., "89 out of 100 survive five or more years beyond diagnosis"? What's the "or more"? Is it because diagnosis and treatments have changed so much in the past five years that the data isn't there to reflect the new survival rates beyond this timeframe?
