This idea started as a 10 minute conversation at the 2016 Society of Neurooncology meeting with Paul Brown. I am greatly appreciative of being able to work with my co-authors and research staff in developing the protocol and ultimately opening the study in 2019. I am grateful to our patients and families who were willing to enroll on our study. This study used advanced medical imaging with 18F-DOPA PET/MRI for improved visualization of residual disease after surgery with a short course (1-2 week) of proton beam therapy for older patients with glioblastoma given with concurrent/adjuvant temozolomide. Results were better than expected with median OS 13.1 months with MGMT methylated patients having a median of 21.8 months. Thanks to Eric Mellon for a well balanced editorial on our findings. With promising results, Mayo Clinic (PI: Dr William Breen) has opened SAGA (Stereotactic Accelerated radiotherapy in GlioblastomA) large randomized study comparing short course RT vs. 3-6 weeks of RT(SOC) incorporating 18F-DOPA PET/advanced MRI. 🚀 I am excited to share my new scientific article that has just been published: "Role of V-Y Flap reconstruction in Vulvar Cancer patients: multicenter retrospective study". In this multicenter study, we examined the effectiveness of V-Y flap reconstruction in patients with vulvar cancer, offering new perspectives and innovative surgical approaches. 🔬 Key points of interest include: - Analysis of clinical outcomes in a large sample of patients - Benefits of the V-Y reconstruction technique in terms of recovery and quality of life - Implications for modern gynecological surgical practice I want to thank all the colleagues and institutions who collaborated on this important research project. The morbidity from re-irradiation, especially after surgery, for recurrent head and neck cancer is full of perils and can rival that of the cancer itself. There is sparse randomized control data to help the decision-making process. In this Expert Forum Webinar, a true multi-disciplinary collaboration between oncology, economics, and data science have come together to incorporate the patient's own values using expected utility theory and a fully interactive online decision tree to help guide the decision-making process.

Taking stock of what we know about treating a specific cancer is an important part of evidence-based care. While our clinicians are constantly learning from each other and staying up to date with new research findings as they are published, period reviews of the literature are an important tool for collating evidence from across the world. Chris O'Brien Lifehouse Clinician Researcher and Director of Head and Neck Surgery, Professor Carsten Palme, has recently co-authored a review of primary management of operable locally advanced oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma.    The international research team reviewed the literature and sought input from a range of experts, and concluded that the management strategy for this specific cancer type should be determined in a multidisciplinary setting with an emphasis on tumour control, preserving the patient's oral functioning, and of course, quality of life. A systematic review (DOI: 10.1002/jso.27613) across 25 years of gastric cancer surgery trials highlights a significant gap in reporting core outcomes, with none of the 64 studies meeting all criteria.
