Our latest article, "Reappraisal of Liver Resection as an Alternative to Transplantation in Locally Advanced Hepatoblastoma" has been published in Pediatric Blood & Cancer. There is ongoing debate regarding the optimal surgical approach for locally advanced hepatoblastoma. This study addresses the gap in current evidence by comparing liver resection with transplantation, using predefined criteria to ensure comparable patient groups. We demonstrate that complex liver resection can serve as a successful alternative to transplantation in selected cases. While transplantation remains an essential part of hepatoblastoma treatment, our findings suggest that patients initially considered for transplantation should undergo a thorough reevaluation following neoadjuvant chemotherapy, with resection being reconsidered as a viable option.
