Studies are showing that tacit knowledge makes up around 70-80% of an organization's total knowledge. This includes personal insights, experiences, and skills that aren't documented. Explicit knowledge, on the other hand, accounts for the other part of the pie: 20-30% and includes documented information like procedures, databases, and manuals. These estimates can vary based on industry, company size and the effectiveness of knowledge management systems in place. So on what side of the Pareto are we focusing on with all the current and new technologies? @image credits Robert Hammond #knowledge #people #processes #technology #continuousimprovement #advancedorganisationalconsulting

Although it can be a bit repetitive, the 5 Whys method is one of the most effective techniques for uncovering the true root causes of an issue. By continually asking 'Why?' at each level, you can drill down to the core problem, even if the process feels tedious at times
Solving Root Problems with Why-Why https://lnkd.in/g6riuevR Ever wondered why some problems seem to repeat themselves? 💡 The Why-Why Analysis digs deeper into the root causes of an issue by asking a simple question: "Why?" multiple times until the root of the problem is clear. 🔍 The approach breaks down complex issues into simpler, actionable insights. By using this method, we focus on identifying root causes rather than symptoms. This way, corrective actions and preventive measures become clearer, helping to avoid future occurrences. Let's look at how it works in real scenarios. If you're dealing with a recurring problem, applying the Why-Why Analysis can uncover hidden opportunities for improvement. Whether it's a machine failure, human error, or process inefficiency, you'll get to the root of the issue faster. Focus areas include: 🚀 Man 🚀 Machine 🚀 Material 🚀 Method 🚀 Measurement 🚀 Mother Nature Start implementing this today to boost your problem-solving techniques and see lasting results! #LeanManufacturing #ProcessImprovement #ProblemSolving #RootCauseAnalysis #ContinuousImprovement #LeanSixSigma Source: Poonath Sekar

🔍 The Power of the 5 Whys Method 🔍 When faced with a problem, jumping to conclusions can lead to incomplete solutions. That’s where the 5 Whys Method shines—by digging deep to uncover the root cause. ✨ How It Works: 1️⃣ Clearly define the problem. 2️⃣ Ask “Why?” the problem occurred. 3️⃣ Continue asking “Why?” for each subsequent answer, up to five times. 4️⃣ Identify the root cause and implement a solution that addresses it. 🛠️ Example: Problem: Production delays. Why 1: The machines stopped working. Why 2: Preventive maintenance wasn’t done. Why 3: Maintenance scheduling was inconsistent. Why 4: The system for reminders wasn’t reliable. Why 5: A manual process was used instead of automation. 💡 Solution: Implement an automated maintenance schedule system. By focusing on the root cause, the 5 Whys helps resolve not just symptoms but the underlying issues. A small question can lead to powerful results! #5Whys #ProblemSolving #ContinuousImprovement #Innovation
