Last weeks all 3 cloud elephants announced their results. We can read around how people are excited, that somebody grew 1% more than the other. But in my opinion end of the day, everything is about cash. If we take key operations (excluding hardware from Microsoft) we see what in reality is generated by all giants as a base for investments in future. Microsoft is by far bigger in area of cloud (not looking on IaaS only) than other guys combined. But what is beating expectation is operational margin level... What does it means? Quite often there is discussion about options. So I took OVH as one of biggest 2nd tier providers. Their capitalization is 1,34B. It means that AWS can buy them 7 times just spending 1 quarter operation profit. Same time Microsoft can do it 17 times or just purchase whole global NTT Data spending 1 quarter operational profit. So we shall look on absolute numbers if we talk about potential to growth. For two leading guys opening new region with investment of 1B looks more like regular business decision than any strategic investment. Percents are often misleading..... Absolute numbers show real size. Just to say- even in top three. Last quarter growth of Microsoft is bigger than whole Google Cloud revenue. It is like to add one GCP to their business.

Google released its Q3 2024 results yesterday. This post will focus only on the cloud revenue analysis for the last four quarters. Google Cloud generated revenues of $11.4 billion, up 35% over last year in Q3 2024 Analysis 1. The quarter-over-quarter analysis indicates that Google Cloud has reached double-digit growth for the first time in a year, marking a significant milestone in its performance. 2. Google has been actively working to improve its profit margins, and the consistent progress achieved over the past year highlights the effectiveness of its strategies. Some points to ponder upon 𝟭.
