A business owner—which is what a freelancer is—has to work hard to get new customers, knock door-to-door, send thousands of cold emails, and master advertising. As a marketing agency employee, clients are assigned to you, so your primary responsibility is managing accounts. If you don’t have the marketing, advertising, and business abilities, you will end up being a low-paid freelance social media manager in a business that you own. However, if you have marketing and advertising skills, as well as social media management expertise, you might do better as a freelancer. But if you have no strategy for how you are going to get new clients, collect money, make contracts, and deal with government regulations, you will go bankrupt, and your freelance business will fail.
