My BUDDY posted this question to me yesterday in the GYM as we always grind together . Tito , How can l MANTAIN MY SELF -CONTROL ? Here's the catch , its always vital to intervene whenever a folk reaches out for support ,that means they trust you and ultimately believes that you can add a postive impact into their lives by increasing their self awareness and honestly , l was super -happy to offer some insights about mantaining self control. Here are some of the ways that l find useful as they have RESONATED with me all the time. To begin with ,all of the books about habits and self control boil down to similar points . Willpower is a depletable resource. Limit your exposure to temptation. Remember that outcomes are a product of those habits ,and the results tends to be delayed. You're doin favours for your future self by making good decisions now . its why drinking a ton of alcohol is a high interest loan on tomorrow's happiness. l will also try to lean into discomfort that important things bring. l keep a note at my desk ,that says ." l will do hard things . l will celebrate having done hard things . l will look forward to doing more hard things . Sometimes, thinking small can help. if lam going to the gym ,l 'll just focus putting on my workout shoes and not think about anything else. Then ,focus on getting into the gym. l limit my field of vision. if am doing cardio for instance , l'll put the towel on the machine timer because l know staring at the clock intensifies the pain. it stops me from getting into a flow state. Remember that you'll always be far happier and satisfied when you put in the work and sacrifice in the moment . You're sparing yourself from the inevitable guilt that comes later on.
