𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒐𝒑𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝒍𝒊𝒆 𝒂𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒅 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑪𝑳𝑴𝑻? In a recent interview with The Edge Malaysia, Choon Siang Tan, CEO of the manager of CapitaLand Malaysia REIT (#CLMT), shared insights about the Trust’s strategic pivot towards industrial and logistics assets to diversify its income streams and enhance the resilience of its portfolio. Malaysia has emerged as a favourable China-plus-one destination as businesses diversify their supply chain activities. This is amid an anticipated increase in industrial activities, particularly in Penang and Johor. The upcoming Johor Bahru-Singapore Transit System Link and the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone are expected to further stimulate industrial activities in Johor. CLMT currently owns two logistics assets, namely Valdor Logistics Hub in Penang and the Glenmarie Distribution Centre in Selangor. It also expects to complete its acquisition of three factories located at the Nusajaya Tech Park in Iskandar Malaysia, Johor, by 4Q this year. On the retail front, CLMT has seen improvements in the performance of its Klang Valley malls through its proactive asset management and leasing efforts. The team has actively repositioned 3 Damansara into a community hub to better serve the needs of the surrounding neighbourhood.
