🎉 Excited to share the launch of the new FASD Hub website! 🖥️ Engaged by Telethon Kids Institute, we designed and developed a custom, scalable WordPress solution for this large, resource-heavy platform, significantly enhancing its accessibility and user experience. Working closely with the FASD Hub team, we developed a modern, user-friendly website that meets WCAG 2.2 AA standards and supports the growing content needs of the FASD Hub. This project was all about creating a site that’s not only easy to navigate for the 8 stakeholder groups but also simple for the internal project team to manage and expand. Proud to have contributed to a resource that plays such a vital role in supporting Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder awareness and education in Australia. #WebDevelopment #WordPress #UXDesign #FASD Website here: https://lnkd.in/dN7F-jsn Full case study here: https://lnkd.in/ghp4nZDp

Before your website goes live, make sure it's fully functional and equipped to attract patients. Here are some critical steps to take before launching: ✅ Optimize Your Site Make sure your site is optimized with relevant keywords, title tags, and meta descriptions. Don't forget local SEO tactics, like listing your practice on directories such as Google, to draw in local patients. 📱 Check for Mobile-Friendliness Test your website on various devices to ensure it’s responsive. A majority of patients will visit from their phones, so mobile usability is crucial. ⚡ Ensure Fast Loading Times Compress images, reduce plugins, and use efficient coding to speed up your site. Fast-loading pages keep patients from bouncing off your site. ♿️ Make Your Site ADA Compliant Improve accessibility by adding an accessibility widget to ensure a more inclusive experience for all users. This helps build trust and broaden your patient reach.

I'm incredibly proud to share my latest website project as a resource for anyone interested in physical therapy in the #WashingtonDC area! This project reflects a deep commitment to user experience, as ClareMotion Physical Therapy is committed to a great patient experience. Clear navigation, engaging content, and a design that reflects the client's personality are the cornerstones of this user-friendly haven. What we focused on: 👉 Easy Nav: Patients should be able to find the information they need/want as simply and as quickly as possible . 👉 Compelling Content: Informative physical therapy topics, minus the dense medical jargon. And of course, a hyper-localized SEO strategy to keep the business coming. 👉 Authentic Representation: The design reflects the client's unique personality, creating a space that feels genuine and welcoming. We even shot a custom video to capture the range of services and unique approach of her practice. Building beautiful and functional websites for passionate wellness professionals like Dr. Danielle Clare is what drives me. If your current website feels more cobwebbed than client-friendly, let's chat! #marketingprofs #webdesigner #seo

When a client and I work as a team, a website really takes shape. There's: ✔ Timely feedback ✔ Strategic thinking ✔ Trust in the creative process ✔ A design that truly captures what the business is about and who they love to work with. And the best thing? A client takes ownership of the website when its launched (on time). Because they've been involved each step of the way. That's exactly what happened with Play With Words Paediatric Therapy. When it came time for their website training session, they were beaming with the results. "We now feel so proud to share our website. We previously would send clients to our Instagram page for info rather than anyone actually seeing our old website." My job here is done 😀 Other creatives involved in the project: Molly Burmeister's photography skills and Nell Casey's strategic keyword research skills. #websitedesign #wordpresswebsite #websitedesignmelbourne #websitestrategy

Found at 2009 Consumer Focus report into DirectGov (predecessor to GOV.UK), but parts of it could have been written about GOV.UK in recent years. The original alpha/beta product design of GOV.UK was _all_ about creating a framework that put services before content and limited there ability of publishing multiple things. The clear demarcation of services vs content vs facts / single service page, single guide page, URL structure etc If there's a moment that the GOV.UK illustrates the drift back towards content soup, it's this 2013 blog post about icons: https://lnkd.in/dWTz9pfx It is, of course, 100% right on one level. Something testing with users, didn't work, so designs are iterated. (The original design had also been overstretched to accommodate government policy and new publishing, which should have been kept separate anyway). But on another level, it marked the abandonment of an attempt at system redesign towards the issues that Consumer Focus and others had identified. GOV.UK was destined to become a publishing first model. It was never about the icons. Baby -> bathwater.

Delighted that one of our research papers on Accessibility of websites during the COVID pandemic has now been published today in the International Journal of Human Factors and Ergonomics. Pennathur, A. Momenipour, A., Murphy, B. and Pennathur, P. (2024) ‘Evaluating accessibility conformance of state public health agencies’ websites during the COVID-19 pandemic’, Int. J. Human Factors and Ergonomics, Vol. 11, No. 3, pp.223–244. The goal of our study was to evaluate conformance with accessibility guidelines of homepages and vaccine information pages on public health websites dedicated to COVID-19 information in the US. We used the Web Access Checker tool AChecker to assess the accessibility using the principles of Perceivability, Operability, Understandability and Robustness (POUR) of public health agency websites in 50 states and Washington, DC. We computed aggregated conformance counts at the guideline level. We evaluated violations of the WCAG 2.0 Guidelines https://lnkd.in/gcjZFQe4 and collated all known WCAG 2.0 problems for each criterion at the A, AA, and AAA levels for each state, for the homepages and vaccine pages separately. The largest number of known violations occurred in meeting the perceivability and operability principles. In particular, problems in providing non-text content, contrast, and text resizing were prevalent. Our evaluation indicates that state public health websites can improve support for non-text content, the use of assistive technologies, contrast, and text resizing. #accessibility #websites #COVID #WCAG Priyadarshini Pennathur Amirmasoud (Amir) Momenipour Brandon Murphy

📢 Top 3 Website Mistakes That Cost Hospitals Their Potential Patients 👇 The hospital’s website is more than just an online presence—it’s often the first stop for potential patients looking for care. But is your site helping or hurting your reputation? 👇 Here are the top 3 mistakes that could be driving patients away: 1️⃣ Outdated Design Patients associate the look of your website with the quality of your care. An outdated, cluttered site sends the wrong message. A modern, clean design builds trust and reassures visitors that they’re in good hands. 2️⃣ Lack of Mobile Optimization Most people search for healthcare providers on their phones. If your site isn’t mobile-friendly, they’ll quickly move on to one that is. Mobile optimization isn’t optional—it’s essential. 3️⃣ Confusing Navigation Patients shouldn’t have to dig through pages to find a phone number, schedule an appointment, or learn about your services. Clear, intuitive navigation ensures they find what they need fast—and stay engaged. 👇 These mistakes can cost you credibility, trust, and patience. But the good news? They’re all fixable. 👇 At Digital Creators Network , we design hospital websites that are modern, mobile-friendly, and user-focused—helping you connect with more patients and grow your impact. 👉 Ready to elevate your online presence? Last week, I attended a fantastic #WebAccessibility training with WebAIM in collaboration with the #UniversityofUtah Web Community of Practice. As an interdisciplinary educator and leader, it's crucial to approach web development with the same care and intention brought to methods design or curriculum. Improving user experience toward #UniversalDesign means larger audiences can engage with critical health and wellness information - and becoming WCAG compliant is the first step! From the training: "The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) provide an international set of guidelines. They are developed by the Worldwide Web Consortium (W3C), the governing body of the web. These guidelines, the basis of most web accessibility laws in the world, are based on four principles: ~ Perceivable: Available to the senses (vision and hearing primarily) either through the browser or through assistive technologies (e.g. screen readers, screen enlargers, etc.) ~ Operable: Users can interact with all controls and interactive elements using either the mouse, keyboard, or an assistive device. ~ Understandable: Content is clear and limits confusion and ambiguity. ~ Robust: A wide range of technologies (including old and new user agents and assistive technologies) can access the content." Some of the key resources I gained from this #training include: - Web AIM's WCAG checklist: assess where a website measures up federal and state requirements across the four key principles of web accessibility https://lnkd.in/gWWAKcaa - Contrast checking tool: ensure that foreground and background assets are visible for a greater population by plugging hex codes into this handy calculator to ensure WCAG compliance - Web AIM's Evaluation guide (WAVE): a free browser extension that gives accessibility info including WCAG errors, likely alerts, and passing features https://wave.webaim.org/
